Your team is up 16. They're young. Why the hell don't you tell them to run their offense and take time off the clock? You don't. Instead you have Daniels, Sanders and others take shots with over 20 seconds left on the clock. WTF???? Then, when St. Johns is struggling offensively especially from outside, you stop the 2-3 zone and go back to man-to-man. Why? It's working. They're shooting 27% from the field. Why bother changing?
A couple of observations having watched the entire game:
Corey needs more touches and needs to shoot more. Cory also needs to spend more time after practice, practicing his damn free throws. Inexcusable to suck so bad from the FT line.
Freeman needs more touches. He's a beast and can score anywhere. He became absent in the 2nd half when we needed him most. He should have been more than the difference.
Lewis has regressed. He may have lost a lot of weight, but why he thinks he can score from 12 and 15 feet away, is beyond me. He was awful from that range. Again, this kid is ball challenged. DO NOT PASS THIS KID THE BALL UNDERNEATH. He has BRICKS for hands.
Daniels was terrific tonight, until it mattered at the end when he failed to finish, but also rushed his shots allowing St. Johns to get back in the game when he missed.
Foreman and Diallo need a lot of work. Especially Diallo. He was a ghost out there except for his fouling.
Laurent is young and not ready for prime time. Goode? He was non-existent out there tonight.
Williams? He finally hit the 3's he was recruited for, but missed some wide open shots late in the second half when it mattered.
Watching this game from start to finish, we were BETTER than St. Johns. To be up 16 points nearly midway through the 2nd half and then lose this game is unconscionable. Yes, the officials SUCKED. Yes, they missed two obvious calls at the end of the game, against Bishop and Corey. Still, it never should have come to that. Jordan mismanaged the endgame. Mullen didn't beat us with his coaching. Jordan lost the game with his lousy coaching from the 10 minute mark in the 2nd half.
