When Saturn goes into Capricorn in 2018-20,you'll see a big improvement in this team.Hard working Capricorns always succeed when this happens.
By year three we should know if RU's on track.
This year will be blamed on Flood and probably rightfully so.
Next season if improvement isn't showing, then it might be time to start wondering
about the coaching staff's ability to make RU into a program we can be proud of but still early enough in their tenure to give them the benefit of doubt
With what was left by the last staff, 5 years to rebuild and another 3-5 to compete. It's the nature of power 5 football. Just bc u get better doesn't mean the competition stands still. It's an arm race and it's very difficult to play from behind. No free agency unfortunately in CFB.When Ash was first hired, I admittedly was disappointed, because I wanted someone who could win right away, like Miami's hire of Marc Richt. With Ash's hiring, the school basically said, "We're hitting the Reset button" and its going to be a while before we win at the level we want. With so many first year coaches and completely new systems, and ultimately so much change, we are not going to be competitive with the best teams just yet. Year 3 is where hopefully we can see improvement, and hopefully we are where we want to be in Year 5, where were regularly going to bowl games. I think these are realistic expectations. Ultimately, Ash's hiring will prove to be the correct one, imo.
Wow, this is brutal. So 5 years to be competent enough so we don't get blown out by every B1G team, then another 3-5 to actually beat some of them? With what was left by the last staff, 5 years to rebuild and another 3-5 to compete. I'm just basing MY opinion on what I've seen with B12 teams and realignment. RU had a perfect storm of realignment, poor recruiting and an abysmal prior staff. Had you guys made the leap to B1G say in '06 or '07, the adjustment would have been 3-5 years to compete. Nothing harder then re building and competing. It just doesn't happen. Be patient with Ash, he seems like a good guy and a good coach.Wow, this is brutal. You guys quitting the team are sooo full of it. Saturday will come and you will be tuned in waiting for the upset. What the offense currently lacks is speed. Get two fast wide receivers, the coaches will be able to recruit the guys they need.
Doesn't matter because they have playmakers. Last year they just turned the ball over to much, but it looks like it got fixed. Way more competitive than us at the moment.Who have they played ? Really ? Even RU with no QB, no WR, and no TE might be 4-0 w that schedule
So let's take a look at Schiano's first 5 seasons (and, yes my definition of "signature" is very subjective, for losses its blowouts and FCS losses):
2001 - 2-9 Signature wins: none Signature losses Miami 61-0, Va Tech 50-0, WV- 80-7, Pitt 42-0
2002 - 1-11 Signature wins: Army 44-0 Signature losses: Villanova, Buffalo, WV and Notre Dame
2003 - 5-7 Signature wins: Cuse 24-7 Signature losses: none
2004 - 5-7 Signature wins: Mich State Signature losses: New Hampshire
2005 - 7-5 Signature wins: Pitt, Cuse, Cincy, Navy (bowl eligible), Signature losses: Louisville
When you think of the road ahead for the program, Ash and getting to a bowl, keep these years in mind. Maybe in the B1G Ash may not have five years, it may be four at most. Sure the Big East is apples and the B1G and B1G East are oranges, but for the first two, we are going to be woodshedded often. So have patience and know hope.
Well rutgersal if you could have donated a few more $$$$ we may have had a Mark Richt type but probably not ...who the hell wanted to take over this program based upon last season...even I detested Flood at the end...When Ash was first hired, I admittedly was disappointed, because I wanted someone who could win right away, like Miami's hire of Marc Richt. It will take 5years of really solid recruiting to reach the level of Nebraska ,Wisconsin and penn state. Unless urban Meyer leaves,it could take ten years to competitive with Ohio st. Harbaugh at Michigan is the same situation essentially as Ohio st. As I have said in previous posts, ru needs a blockbuster of a hire once we get the real money in 2021. I,m talking 5-6 M a year for a game changer in recruiting as well as coaching. I like ash and the energy he brings and feel he was the best that we could do with limited funds. Eventually we have to bite the bullet and spend the big bucks to get an urban like coach or remain a middle of the pack team at best. In the meantime , go ru and support this young coach.
