Today was pathetic

The only thing longer than the ride back from Maryland for people who made the trip down to see that sorry performance by the Scarlet Knights football team would probably be the ride home after the Temple disgrace at Mohegan Sun by the Rutgers basketball team last Friday.
It's not easy being a fan of New Jersey's state university.

You cant be serious.

You’re really comparing the football teams performance to the basketball team?!?!

The basketball team is playing great!!!

They are 5-1. They have played 11 VERY solid halves. They had ONE stinker of a half all season (first half of temple - so bad they couldnt overcome it despite a decent second half).

Other than the injury to Paul there is nothing but VERY POSITIVE things on the basketball front

It’s actually VERY easy and FUN to be a fan of the basketball team. They play tough D, play great team ball, have OFFENSIVE weapons, they hustle like crazy, and there have been a number very pleasant surprises (Spencer is a total stud and Woolfolk is a VERY SOLID big man as a Frosh). Today Simpson and Mag emerged even more.

It’s VERY EASY to be a fan of the basketball team

Football? I turned it off and watched the Michigan-OSU game . The football team is hot garbage

I was actually comparing the long unhappy ride home from Mohegan Sun after the disappointing performance by the basketball team to the long unhappy ride from Maryland today for the faithful who made the trip to experience today's disaster by the football team. I think it's safe to say that everyone here knows that the basketball team is doing very well overall and the football team sucks.
I gotta tell you though that I've experienced a number of both over the years. And for me it was actually more upsetting when an outstanding RU team took it on the chin than when a sad sack RU team put forth just one more chitty performance.

Aren’t you the one with the huge chip on your shoulder about temple?

If so I think that’s coloring your perception

The temple game didn’t bother me at all.

It was one bad half in a season FULL of reasons to be excited

If you really drove down to Maryland for this game it’s on you, get a life. You have nothing better to do today?

Why are you jumping down his throat for expressing his emotion after a loss? The basketball team could be playing well but it is playing schools ranked in the 200s and below.
This time last year that was nothing but bad signs. This year (except Paul’s shoulder) there’s nothing but good signs. Last year we were struggling with /losing to teams like this/ this year taking care of business (and showing some very positive signs in doing so)

But at this point, I am well aware, that’s it…

How this will translate when we start playing real teams obviously remains to be seen

Btw why the hell is a seton hall fan on the Rutgers football message board? Obsess much? I couldn’t tell you one thing about the shu team - undefeated? Winless? No idea. Can’t name a single player. Not one. Yet you’re over here. Interesting

I am a proud graduate of Rutgers. I’ve been following its basketball and football teams way before you graduated.

It wasn’t unacceptable because this program, fans and administration will accept it . However, it was pathetic and embarrassing.
You couldn't be more wrong about the first sentence and "the fans." As far as the administration, they are stuck with Greg for AT LEAST 2, probably 3 more years, because there is too much pressure to not pay more in buyouts.

I was building a shed for the first half. Came in at half time for a bite to eat and check the game. Watched the first five minutes of the second half and wanted to throw my lunch up. I went back outside to work on the shed.

Fans are accepting of this garbage. If you post something objective here, you get roasted. See my bottom 25 thread and even the posts you liked KS in that thread supporting the non objectivity .

Can't really rhyme anything cool with Schiano, like Flood's a dud and Ash will get us Smashed, huh?

Schiano is an out of tune piano is about the best I got.

That post was hot garbage and I did not bother with it. I don't mind provocative posts,.but it seemed a bit too much. We all know that the elephant in the room is shitty offense

It’s hard to believe that the offense has been this anemic for two straight years. The defense looks like it belongs in the B1G, while the offense looks like it belongs in the FCS. I’m not sure what the path forward is and who they can bring in as a good OC.

Batts is a good poster, and I like engaging with fans of other teams (Batts is an RU grad, FWIW). Getting outside perspective of our program is helpful, since our perspectives are clouded by emotion. Heck, two of the best posters we've ever had on our board are @Southern Gentleman and @huskersalways.

Because I still think Greg should get a couple more years. That is why we are accepting of today
I know he's getting 5 years to show progress before we even consider cutting him loose, unless Rutgers football starts the B1G season with 2 shutout losses by a combined 0-82 like Chris Ash did in 2019 @ Iowa and @ UM or multiple blowout losses to the top of the league in year 4 in 2015 like Flood.

2022 Rutgers 47 Ohio St, UM, Penn St, Iowa, Minn, Maryland 251, 2 shutouts
Rutgers 58 Indiana, Mich St, Nebraska 58, 105-309
2023 He has gotta close the gap by 60-80pts on offense and defense against those 4 East teams and the 2 of the 3 West teams we play.

Yeah I’m not sweating the loss at temple. Early season, significant injuries, odd neutral site with hardly any fans the whole night was out of sorts. I hope it doesn’t come to bite them come tournament time but comparing it to the futility on the football side is way off

I drove home from BWI and I was expecting it to be traffic related because even though I didn’t go to the game, the ride home had traffic, accidents, and many cars on the side of the road.

Stopped at the first rest stop over the bridge into NJ and it was a madhouse.

first, let’s define “the fans”. That’s about 5k people. Not enough to get things done financially.
two, who is accepting this? When was the last time we fired a coach mid-season? acceptance would mean we do nothing.

Ash was fired mid-season.

We are all accepting of this because nothing is going to happen. We just hope the team won’t stink by next Labor Day weekend

Why do we have to be stuck with a lame duck Head Coach whose only ceiling with be 3 or 4 wins over each of the next 3 seasons ? Wait and see how future Recruiting takes a hit during this fiasco { the ‘23 class is already near the bottom of all P5 programs}. Will take longer to recover. Besides the fans being disgusted with the whole situation I am sure the Rutgers Administration is looking for a path out of this national embarrassment for the University. Time to consider directing some of the B1G payout monies to fire Greg and get a new HC.

Again, we fired the OC mid season. How is that nothing? If he hires Nunz, then I agree with you.
