Total class act compared to Miami idiot coach, Izzo maybe had the longest postgame handshake with Pikiell I’ve ever seen, one of the greatest coaches of all time and he knows what’s going on here. In BTN postgame interview, says Rutgers basketball is back. Also said the big ten is the best it’s ever been since he’s been here. Great effort tonight, we played the back half of our bench and got hosed but we belonged on the court with a top 10 MSU tonight. Keep it up

He's always been complimentary of Pike and RU

Let's see what he says when RU can finally beat him
He'll wine about the officiating like he did when Maryland went up to MSU and beat them the first season they were in the B1G.

Do not let Izzo fool you, that short mfer knows how to play to the cameras and microphones.

The BTN crew also said that.
I think the league loves it and the continuation since the msg tourney.

Not there yet but certainly an asset vs. Liability.

I want a T Shirt produced that says just that. Rutgers BBall is back or RU bball. We R back.

Beating the hall would be another test and huge in the effort.

Yeah and the refs. So what. If I were him I would too. Coach k or the other top coaches don't?

actually people connected with RU sports also say very good things about izzo

And, as an elder statesmen in the league, he's smart enough to promote the league and help try to get as many teams into the NCAAT.

Smart guy, very good coach but having met him I'm no longer fooled :sunglasses:
Russ, fooled by what? I certainly don't think he is sqeeky clean. Do you think he's a slimeball? I know there has been some issues. I've walked back my personal opinion of him being a super high character guy...but is he not a decent one? What super successful long term winner is anymore?

haha yes he did compliment Eddie but here is the deal, this time we as RU fans knowing what we know of Pike, we know he is the real deal and we are on our way back
He complimented Eddie trying to be courteous and help Eddie save his job. Basically the comment was bullshit. He genuinely likes Pikiell and like all of us; it’s easy to see why.

Tonight was a very competitive big 10 game. They are better than us because they have two nba guards and a monster in Ward who was unstoppable down low. I think the refs blew a lot of calls and they ended up going to the line way too much. I hate harping on the refs but we just don’t seem to catch a break?

Amazingly enough, if we hit some more of the 3 point shots, we could have upset them. Peter Kiss has to just keep shooting. He had a lot of good looks and doesn’t take many bad shots. I like getting the ball down low to Johnson. I think he can be a force. McConnell finally had some good minutes. I think Mathis is going to break out in one of these upcoming games. I really like this group and we played a solid football game. Wisconsin up next and I think they are good, but beatable if we put it all together!

It’s a pleasure rooting for this Rutgers team.

1984, you totally missed my point. It isn’t whether Pikiell is the guy or not. It is how much you put into coach Speak. Almost no coaches slam the opposing coach after a game. And basically Izzo says the same thing he said about Pikiell as he did Eddie. And we see what happened under Jordan. To think that Izzo’s comments ordain Pikiell as a top coach should be taken with a grain of salt. That’s all. Personally, I love what Pikiell is doing and think maybe he is finally the guy Rutgers Basketball needs. I like him and sure hope he is, especially as a long term season ticket holder

He will give credit to Rutgers but also say MSU played like shit (if it’s the case—he normally doesn’t sugarcoat)
Yeah but he couldn’t say that tonight. Michigan State played their A game and if Geo and Eugene who were both subpar tonight play their A games this is going to the wire or Rutgers wins. I think the 9 minute first half rest got Geo out of rhythm that he could never recover and Eugene tried to force it too much. The great thing about tonight was Caleb mostly and Mathis and Myles show they. can play in this league. First time I have left a Rutgers basketball game after a loss not disappointed but encouraged.

KISS was out of rhythm in the second half. Since he is a threat in rythym he needs to learn the difference and drive and dish when appropriate

I thought that Vitale that wanted the RU job--you may have the wrong Italian

Gregory Schiano has a lot of vowels.

I've been in the room and heard conversations I should not have. Admittedly pre Schiano.

And maybe post pernetti? Speculating for this last part only.

no I didn't. I get "coach speak". I just happen to think this time (maybe body language and how close Pike has played him) he means it this time. that's all.

Soooo are people saying Rutgers won't hire an Italian? What century are we in?

Schiano? Pernetti? Theory busted right there?

Agreed. I don't think Kiss is confident in his handle and/or his ability to get by the defender. He picks up his dribble too soon, leaving himself stuck in no man's land.

For those who might be interested there is a clip on the women’s board showing Izzy introducing Coach Stringer to his team. Cost you a little over a minute.

Our basketball is not "back". Not sure if bac was making a pun when he titled this thread. I see another bottom of the B1K finish--doesn't everyone else ?

What Coach Piike has done in short-order is stop the bleeding and should be commended for stabilizing the ship so quickly. We still have a few tough years ahead--I am okay with that. This will be a sought after job when Pike steps aside/moves on. Let's keep the progress on and off the court each week.
Looking forward to this week's Court Club meeting !
