Totally disagree with giving almost an entire 110 section to football recruits

If you want Rutgers to be successful, it takes everyone to pitch in. A Good BBall program helps the Fball team and vice versa...which both help Rutgers.
Get onboard, because if you think this wont continue as long as Schiano is here...you're mistaken.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but all schools do this. Most football junior days are held when the basketball team has a home game. They do the same for official visits.

If you’re a competitive athlete from NJ, there’s no way that doesn’t leave a quite an impression on you.

Imagine this is an NCAA basketball team? These kids will be telling their friends about having been at this game and witnessing that shot...

And the narrative is easy: See how these kids turned around the home team? This could be you in football...

Way too many. We have a strong student section. Ok if its done once but this is the 2nd game in a row

OMG, driving home I had to show my wife the title of your post. I'd just pointed this out to her during the game. If we continue to sell out, the AD has to figure something out. It's important to host football recruits at these games, but imagine that section full of students like it was back in the day. Hell, IIRC students had an overflow section in the 200s behind our bench too. That may have been for student season tickets , though.

Figure it out Pat.

300’s yup!

It’s a little odd seeing this thread. The students were MIA for years. How many times has the student section been empty through the last 10 years? Almost always.

And so we stay stuck in the past, or do we adjust to what's happening right now? Mind you, I agree with the importance of hosting football recruits. I just think that, if the demand is there, we find a way to maximize the impact and presence of our students. They are by far the most raucous and lively of all our fans. It's unfortunate to see 1/3 of that section dead in comparison to the other 2/3.

heck I thought this was going to be a no brainer win and we didn't need the students there....if it was indeed Junior day what could they have done? Maybe move them across the top of the section and keep all seats across the bottom half students?

That section can accommodate students and special guests — recruits and their families. The old Section 118 is the obvious dead spot in the RAC.

Seemed like a lot of unused space in the section. With demand for student tix so high, the section could be way more raucous than it is now.

I think the big thing to remember is this won't be a regular occurrence. Today was FB Junior Day. Most weekends will have a few recruits but not the whole section - at least that is what I think will be happening.

And sticking recruits in the 300s is much less effective a recruiting tool. You want them to feel like royalty, not paupers. This will pay off. Don't wish away one of our best recruiting tools.

when we complained about it last week, we got the same response, it won't happen again

So do they allocate a higher number of student tickets for a weeknight game like Purdue than what is available on a weekend? If they are all sold out for the rest of the year then presumably they know which games they need to hold a section for football. Can't imagine that is the case during the week.
