Totally disagree with giving almost an entire 110 section to football recruits

You also can't predict success by the basketball team. Back in the start of December, a home game in Nebraska looked like a non-starter. Kind of ridiculous to now have a huge problem with it.

As for expansion of the student section, the visiting team still needs to exit to their locker room on the opposite end of their bench past the student section. It's a lot easier to crowd control when you only have to worry about staircases then just flooding onto the floor.

Again..create demand and make it the place to be before "expansion"

Notice how many recruits have their cell phones out?

They’re taking videos of a great time at Rutgers and sharing it with their friends. And of course, it’s now a story to tell. So it goes from a fun time at Rutgers to OMG THE RAC IS AMAZING, etc.

Without knowing it, these teenagers have become brand ambassadors for the University. It’s in their interest to sell what a cool experience they had over the weekend.

Yeah, this is definitely a bad thing. For those recommending an exile to the 300’s, why not stick them in the bathroom? That way they’re not in a paying seat.

Time to put plans in place if not done so already to reconfigure the RAC to add seats. Students first, open market if available.

All I know is the success of our basketball team is doing wonders for football. They better start winning and bring some excitement to our football stadium so just maybe we could have a nice atmosphere for potential basketball recruits. I think our football staff owes a lot to Pikiell and our basketball team. I want success for both programs so football better show some major improvements.

I highly doubt recruits and they’re families take up 200 student de room seats THAT close to the floor at most venues.

...THAT being said I do understand the need to do it MAYBE 1 time during break, and am hoping this year - understandably so - is an anomaly.

Way too many. We have a strong student section. Ok if its done once but this is the 2nd game in a row

I agree 100% and have posted about it more than once. The silver lining today is that many of the recruits got into the game and actually cheered, as opposed to the statues at the MN game.

when we complained about it last week, we got the same response, it won't happen again

Anyone who thought it wouldn't happen on Junior Day was just not paying attention. Of course its going to happen on Junior Day. And it SHOULD. Unless of couse, we enjoy going winless in football.

I personally am not a big fan of sucking at football.

They already did this last game
Disagree. Recruits talk. They want to feel the love. Imagine saying we can only use the recruiting lounge at the stadium for certain weekends. Just not right. I sat in front of the section yesterday. Was thrilled to see Greg going from recruit to recruit shaking hands and talking to the families. You expect him to only do that one game. Recruit X says to recruit Y they liked me more because we had the best seats and your visit you all had to sit up higher. No need to change a thing

It is absolutely necessary for FB recruiting. It is a win-win situation. Remember Schiano walking over to Cliff when there were no FB recruits at the bball game except for Schiano in attendance. What do you think will happen when Pike and Goodale take their recruits to attend FB games? It will be reciprocated. It’s what BIG universities do. End of story.

I will say this much though...MAYBE football and baseball (they were there, too) can give up 1-2 rows and “generously squeeze” in a tiny bit for the students. That would be acceptable. However, maybe they don’t know the total number of recruits that will definitely show up for bball and have to have that many rows prepared in advance. That’s when game time adjustments can be made. Just not sure how that will help students though if advertised it’s sold out in advance. Maybe a short waiting list morning of?

It’s a good problem to have...hot ticket makes people wanting it more and appreciate it more when they get it. MBB puts on a show and is entertaining, easy to root for. We are making people RU fans. It’s giving recruits glimmers of what to expect with some success.

Go RU!
Diane

PS Quick idea: I saw some empty seats around the RAC, I assume no shows for whatever reasons. Maybe RU should have a hot line for unused tickets up to half time so that those seats can be filled by anyone, including students. I understand students would prefer to sit together but maybe getting them into the game in a seat is better than nothing. They will find their way into student section anyway, if room permits them.

This thread makes me sick. Plenty of ru fans that sit there like corpses in the 100s that need to be kicked out well ahead of the states best football recruits and their families.

Wake the F up.

I remember a NJAM text a few weeks ago that said RU football would be hosting a bunch of recruits at two January games. One game was for all the north jersey recruits, and the other was for the south jersey recruits. I can’t remember what games specifically they were (I thought 1/24 and 1/27) but maybe/hopefully it was the previous two games given the turnout.

Almost every recruit mentioned that they enjoyed the basketball game and had “great seats”...
Definitely worth it. Also, just behind the band there were a dozen seats or so.

Some of you act like this is Schiano's fault. We had plenty of Jr. Days when Ash was here, but it wasn't an issue because BBall wasn't filling the arena. Now we have a good BBall team and lots of excitement around football. We should all be happy to have this issue.
