Paetzell ran in to a buzz saw in the BC kid. Another stud freshmen at BC. I hope Grello injury isn't serious.
I was a little shocked with Mulligan getting pinned but bounced back nicely. Correnti had a great day for sure. Very excited for future of him at 197 and Mulli at 184. Team is in great shape.

I have heard mixed things on Grello (I missed the match) did he get hurt or the other kid. I think once I checked Track and it said he lost due to injury and it later said he won due to the other kid injury defaulting. Can we get some confirmation?

Grello has had several notable injuries throughout his high school career, which is cause for concern going forward. Hopefully his college career is much healthier!

I watched all the matches yesterday for our guys. Not sure what was going on with Track - it was useless for the first 4 rounds, and only barely working for the final round yesterday afternoon. I posted in the other thread, but Grello won to take 3rd. He injured the other kid badly. It was either his knee or a broken leg. He was obviously in a lot of pain, and while they were tending to him on the mat, it was immediately obvious he wouldn't be able to continue. I am not sure anymore, but I think it the score was even when the injury happened.

Mulligan also won to take 3rd, which they had also misreported I think.

Obrats - Do you have any opinion on Paetzall at 132? I haven't been following this closely for that long, so no idea how common it is to move weight classes in a difficult tournament like this just to avoid a better wrestler. Obviously he must've thought he had a better chance to win at 132, but it seemed obvious that 132 had some good kids as well, and he was clearly undersized. I guess I just don't understand the thinking. He should've gone at 126 where he would have gotten to wrestle #1 in the final. As someone who hasn't followed closely, I guess I just don't understand shying away from competition like that.

Well since you asked.

Paetzell looked under sized to me in most matches at 132. That being said he was in all matches and to be honest I think he could have won that weight had things gone a little better.

Everyone is mentioning Suriano at 126 but didn't hear anyone mention Karam at 126. MY OPINION Paetzell was the 3rd best kid at 126. Karam beat up Daton Fix not to long ago at Super 32 and has been wrestling great. Yes Suriano pinned him and made it look easy but trust me Karam is a stud. I hope what WNG says is true that Paetzell will be a career 125 pounder because I think he will have a great career at 125. All indications are he is a GREAT kid, and works real hard.

Read this last night, though it was a good read. http://highschoolsports.lehighvalle...-tough-spot-for-return-to-wrestling-at-beast/

Awesome article. Thanks for posting, I would not have seen that. I also didn't realize that was what went down in his consolation match.

The power of the Bergen Catholic pipeline that we seem to be building may be huge for our program's future. Shane Griffith, who lost in injury default, looks like another top prospect. More good things happening here. $$$$

Even if it was hypothetically just to avoid Suriano and try to win at BotE, wrestling up a weight or so could definitely help him later in the year when he drops back down to his normal weight.

Paetzell is a great kid and has been in our wrestling room alot. Tireless worker and will be very coachable.

Post tourny interview w Paetzall in Lehigh vallely live :

on Patzaell being assessed a penalty for head slap:

This reporter was watching the bout and saw nothing untoward from either wrestler but good, spirited competition; and Paetzell, a friendly and personable young man, is the last wrestler on earth we’d imagine to attempt to harm a foe.

“I have been training at Rutgers all summer and they have all have such heavy hands,” said Paetzell, a Scarlet Knight signee. “I thought for a while (Rutgers All-American) Anthony Ashnault didn’t like me, he was hitting me so hard.”

he's dropping back down? When? seems if he went 32 4 Beast to avoid(your word) Suriano why would he drop down to maybe get him @ State? Unless you think he's dropping to 20?
that aint happening

Calm down Horse. The speculation on THIS board is that, being that he looked too small for 132, he wrestled up. It's not speculation that I created. And from said speculation, I just assumed he would eventually go back down. I have no inside info. I couldn't even pick the guy out of a lineup.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Paetzall at 120 late in the season, before Districts.
