Taking Wagner out of the equation, we have two first quarter touchdowns in 7 games. Need to get more creative and do something, anything, to start off better and set a tone. Run, run, incomplete pass on 3rd and long isn't doing it.

Frustrating to see virtually every first down play be an inside run for zero, one, or two yards.
Also, when was the last time one of our backs had a legitimate hole to run through ?

The next OC hire is going to determine a lot.
Especially their philosophy (although OC Gleeson had a different philosophy but it didn't seem to translate).

If we revert to "complementary" football (code for: run run 3rd and long) then get ready to see a lot more of that.
That hire will basically dictate the rest of HC Schiano career here.

You have to coach to your personnel. Our running game is better than our passing game because (a) it's easier to train an offensive line to run-block than to pass-block (everyone does better going forward than backward) and (b) our running backs are better than our wide receivers. We need more creativity in our running game (for instance, better blocking schemes) and, most important, better recruiting to get better personnel.

The issue with the passing game is more about poor play design and inadequate QB play than personnel. Ryan and Cruicshank are good WRs. They don't have anyone to throw them the ball or put them in a position to make plays.

We are unable to recruit FBS level linemen and those we do get don’t develop. It’s been a mind boggling problem from Ash to current.

Year after year we have one of the worst o-lines in all of FBS.

Not really. Bottom third of the BIG which is really a strong OL conference. Probably mid pack on all of FBS.

We were much more creative than Minnesota. They executed better. We missed blocks. We jumped offsides and we didn’t tackle as well as normal but Minnesota had a lot to do with that.

Wouldn't you agree we also have had too many drops by our wide receivers? The problems go beyond schematics and QB play.

Listen buddy, you're close to being my first ever ignore......

If that happens, everyone better ignore me because I'm going to be insufferable.

Is it bad that I kind of want to see the articles saying it wasn't NFL caliber Teel, Britt and Underwood - but OC McNulty was the real secret behind 2007 (15 years ago...).

Actually the combination of pass protection and Gavin scrambling was better than expected. Gavin had a few opportunities to pick up 1st downs with his feet, but was told or choose to throw it. The dropped passes hurt as did losing Sam B. If Brown played we would have more 1st downs and a few scores.
