Uniforms?

This. Give me this and a 1961 uniform look and I will never complain

our tradition is so good, we should embrace it. All that winning, all those glory years, so many championships. . . can't wait to be as bland with uniforms as we were on the field.

No thanks. Those are terribly boring & too Alabama-like. I hope we keep the battlescarred helmets as our primary helmets but it seems like we won't. Going back to the old red helmets sucks. We should continue to use the white & battlescarred helmets.

What is with the black stripes on the helmets during today's practice?

Apparently the stripes are removed when Ash deems the player 'game ready'
What?

LOL! Seriously WT.. is "game ready." Never heard of doing that before.

Could you imagine being that kid who never gets "game ready." I road the pine in all my years in college. I must been some hack. hahahah

Other teams do something similar with a shell-type thing over the helmet.

Listen to the presser it's actually very impressive:

- brought it from OSU where they've done it for a long time
- you must be game ready in EVERY sense of the word (mentally, physically, on-and-off the field, etc, etc)
- your position coach must nominate you to Coach Ash as being "game ready"
- it could happen this spring, this summer, or next year, everyone progresses at a different rate

- you are "KNIGHTED" when the stripe is removed!

The return of sanity.

"...Ash didn't divulge specifics about the new uniforms, which he said will be released some time after spring practice. But he clearly has a style in mind. 'I just look at: Does Ohio State have 15 uniforms? No. Does Alabama? No. Does Michigan? No. Does USC? No,' Ash said. 'You look at some of the traditional best football programs around the country and they have an identifiable, clean, first-class look and that's what I want us to have.'

The irony is the classic Schiano faux Michigan State uniforms were not great either. Liked the classic uniforms, not the helmets, of the Graber/ Marco era.

The ones based on the SanFran 49'ers?
Exactly!! Always thought the Chiefs, the Cardinals of Jim Hart and Jim Ottis and the 49ers did Red right.
The only 49er ones that come to mind are the ones from the Shea error with the shadow numbers? Absolutely AWFUL.

The Graber/Marco era ones with a Block R helmet would be fine by me.

Well, they do one hell of a job over on Saville Row. And their army did wear red the last time they were in New Brunswick.
For some reason that reminds me of an old joke my dad told me way back when....

A French General and a British General were talking. The French General ask the British General, "Why do all the British soldiers wear red uniforms?" The British General replies, "They wear red uniforms because if they get shot the blood blends in with the red uniforms and the other solders don't panic." So the next day all the French soldiers took to wearing brown pants.

I want to print out that quote and hug it.

We have more tradition than anyone except Princeton, which we are tied with.

This is true, although people tend to misunderstand it. To paraphrase Mr. Webster, traditions are customs and elements of culture passed from generation to generation. We don't have a great tradition of winning, a tradition of championships, of dotting the i (we have nothing to dot), throwing toilet paper up into trees (thank god), or any of the other notable college football traditions. But playing football is itself the most important of all these traditions, the one tradition that without, none of the other traditions would exist. So Tango is right. We do have more college football tradition than anyone except Princeton. We should be proud of this.

Ash is very influenced by his days in Ames (Iowa St.). My guess is to look at their uniforms to get his thoughts on our new uni's. I think those 1961 uni's will be close, but with the Block R on the helmet.

Loved the new chrome helmets, thought they were very unique and go with the Knight theme.. the red helmets are boring to me

Wait a minute, "KnightsofChrome!" It took me a week to think of that one!
LOL, how about KnightsofScarlet, or TraditionalKnight. Or, something completely different, KnightAsh, NightCash...I don't know. Will keep thinking...:(
