Univ of Buffalo 71 Syracuse 59

UB has gone to the NCAAs going on 4 years in a row now.

Presently ranked #14 in the nation.
Coach Nate Oats aims to sustain the program by continuing to mine the JUCO ranks for players who can contribute right away.

Thats one way to go !

Fun Facts:
He and Buffalo's football coach both coached at Wisconsin, Whitewater.
Oats' salary is $600K, and Leipold's salary is $405,000.
Each have produced more wins than Ash and Pikiell combined this season.

Buffalo should have been top 10 team already b4 this win and Nevada belongs in the top 5. They are both legit final four teams.

They were 42-20 the two years before Oats became head coach. He seems like a great coach, but it’s a lot easier to keep winning then to try and build a winner from a loser in the B1G.

Buffalo is a senior heavy team. They also draw a lot of fouls. Buffalo was 15 for 20 while Syracuse was 5 for 13. Lastly, while they did not make a lot, Buffalo was 10 for 33 from 3 point land.

Shooting 30.3 beyond the arc as a team isn't much to get excited about.

The fact that they get city kids and southern kids to spend their winter's in Buffalo is a testament to their success.

In the 8 games since opening against FDU/Drexel, we're 51/183 (27.9%).
LOL ok I see we're going to pick the games we want instead of looking at the entire season. In the first game after St John's Rutgers was 10-of-24 (41.7 percent).

In 10 games this season Rutgers is shooting 33 percent. The team could shoot better the rest of the season or they just shoot worse. It doesn't change the fact that Buffalo shooting 30% as a team in that one game is not much to write home about.

Agree it's not much to write home about - but we've only shot better than 30.3% half the time this year, too. 3 hot games (36/70, 51%), and 7 bad ones (41/159, 26%). It's a small sample size, and there's a lot of season left to go - but we're hardly shooting the lights out consistently right now, either.

I dont care about numbers...esp 3 pointers
At the end of the day
winning at Cuse at the DOME is huge.
Winning and being ranked is huge
Winning in at any Buffalo sports program is huge
Winning in SUNY(who has always downplayed sports) is huge

The UB coach has gone on record that he plans to build the team with transfers....again
I like the whole WINNING thing

Marquette beat Buffalo by eighteen last night. Buffs played very well, imo. The way Marquette shot (18/31 on highly contested 3s) they’d have won the national championship. ‘‘Twas ridiculous.

Marquette has a team full of shooters who can hit ridiculous shots. Doubt they can go the entire NCAA tournament without one cold game but their offensive ceiling is as high as anyone's.
