It all starts up front, and we might have the best OL in the country, with our OL last year leading the way for the Big Tens leading rusher and our OL allowing the fewest sacks. With four of five starters returning and another year stronger, I expect our OL to improve upon last years performance. Key is Suttons knee, which clearly wasn’t fully healed last year, but should be better next year. Despite his limitations, he gave many a Miami defender a ride and made them look like they were playing on roller skates.

Quarterbacks will throw at least 55% this year, and I honestly don’t care who it is. Surace is the most talented quarterback on the roster, but he may need to hold a clipboard for a year, which isn’t the worst thing. Athan and Gavin are competing.

Our running attack is as good as any, with the Big Tens leading rusher returning and Sam Brown backing up. And a plethora of running backs behind them, biding their time.

Big difference in talent level in the WR Corp. our starters are arguably three WR1 caliber receivers who will significantly bolster our WR productivity. Miller, Brantley, and Strong could be as good as any WR Corp in the nation. Dremels consistency will be better appreciated with better Quarterback play.

Depth has significantly improved. Toure redshirted last year but flashed in the bowl game, and has NFL potential.

Korey Duff is a future All American, but will spend this year acclimating to this level and growing into his body. His best position might be Flex Tight End, but no matter where he plays this year, he is going to be a matchup nightmare. Very excited about Ben Black, who brings blazing 4.37 speed to the table. Braithwaite is waiting in the wings to impact. The Corp has gone from lacking talent to having a plethora of talent. This is where I think Rutgers Football will show its biggest improvement. Last year, the receiving game struggled. This year, I expect the receiving game to take a big step up.

We all know tight end is the biggest question mark. The team seems to be banking on Fletcher, whose effectiveness is unknown, so it’ll be a wait and see situation. Konopka has size and has flashed at times, but hardly played last year. Blake and Higgins have measureables but have yet to meaningfully impact. We will probably add a Bowman caliber tight end from the portal. If we were USC, we would buy the best tight end money could buy. We’re not, so our hopes rest on unknowns.

Defense could be the best in the nation. Defensive Tackles are stout and depth is impressive. Malcolm Ray, Zaire Angoy, Hamilton, Konga and Rainey are going to clog up running lanes. Aaron Lewis and Wesley Bailey have All American type potential and didn’t have as good a season as expected last year, as their coach was on the mend.

The Linebacking Corp is the heart and soul of this team. Tyreek Powell is a potential All American and first round draft pick. Mohamed Toure has gotten progressively better and has all conference potential. Walker and Wright back them up.

The secondary should once again be strong despite losing our best player in Melton. Longer ram is going to be drafted next year. Mascoe figures to be the other corner and will be seeing his first action. Igbinosun flashed big time potential last year, and was a key reason the defense was much improved. Safeties Flip Dixon and Shaquan Loyal were very effective last year. They will be supplemented by Kai Sanders, who is a budding star.

We are strong across the board. Tight End is the sole question mark. Looking like the best season since 2006, and perhaps even better.

I can never be mad at you but cmon man!

2/10 on the troll attempt, but besides all of the other obvious things we’re missing, the one glaring thing is that we….

Need
A
Quarterback

How about starting at contending for a bowl first.
We won our bowl game last year. We’re past that.
We played competitively with Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Iowa for most of those games. We beat up Miami in our bowl game. We’re on to bigger and better things.

We are a 3 deep quality depth chart at every position away from contending for a National Championship.
What happens when your impact tight end breaks his wrist or gets concussed?
We don’t even have one impact tight end, so our tight ends will probably stay in and block, for the most part. All our receiving talent is in the WR Corp, unless Duff is a Flex Tight End.

We haven’t had an impact Tight End in years , there either undersized or underweight or a converted lineman or a converted QB , GS has done a terrible job when it comes to recruiting an impact Tight End because face it we are a ground & pound offense, the good ones with soft hands want the ball 6 to 7 times a game , not spending eternity watching everyone else getting involved with the offense.

Once they install the two-QB along with a punter in the backfield offense, watch out! Third and twenty never looked so exciting before!

Here’s the key Al. Once Surace takes over as starting QB, coupled with a very improved WR group, the passing game opens everything up. All of a sudden we can maintain drives. We can actually spread the field. This opens the middle for the TE, no matter who it is, to become effective. Running game gets even better, believe it or not. QB play has been the ultimate limiting factor for our entire team. If we can keep the defense off the field, they will dominate in a big way. AJ is the difference maker. Question is….can he be ready as a frosh.

So are you saying NIL and lack of an indoor facility are not significantly holding back the team?

Hard to make those excuses when it seems we are already a National Title contender already
Don't forget he is on record stating that this is another free year for Schiano. How does that play if we are only one player away from a National Championship? Shouldn't the coach be accountable if we only win 7 or 8 games? Seems like an obvious contradiction, that is hard to believe coming from Al.

If we have the best OL our TE’s don’t need to stay in and block. But you think because they are not “impact” is the reason they stay in and block?

There were many times last year our TE’s were open in space but the qb couldn’t see them or was told not to throw over the middle.

We are a Nick Bosa, Reggie White, Johnny Football (from his freshman year) and Julio Jones away from having a shot at the B1G title

As an eternal RU optimist, I think somewhere between the National Champs OP and the statement above is where we currently exist. And I'm fine with that. Lots to be excited about this upcoming season.

Cheers from CA, boys. See you all at USC.

‘Fieldhouse Al Fantasies’ should be a Netflix comedy series. F.A.’s already writing his next jackass idea “Two Heismans One Season” about Kaliakmanis and Monongai both being so unstoppable that the Heisman Trophy Trust had no choice but to award two.

Competivey? Not one of those game were one score games. The average margin of victory was 19.4 and the closest game was an 11 point loss.

This is not the 90s were beating Miami means something. Miami was a very mediocre program which had another disappointing 7-6 season.

Schiano must be firmly on the hot seat. I mean thr program must be loaded with talent being just one player away from winning the national championship this year. Considering how much of that talent is returning going 7-6 is clearly underachieving. I mean a TE away from winning a national championship is a shoe in for playoffs.

So Al will you be calling for Schoano to be fired if he doesn’t make the playoff this year?
