How is it possible that Rutgers is this bad. I get that Flood set us back, but did he set us back to as bad as pre-Schiano days? Because that's what we look like right now. At least then there were some young players, we were getting better, and there was hope for the future.

Right now, it looks like we are so far from even being competitive, I'm not sure what can be done. I went into this game, knowing it didn't really matter but hoping to see some effort so that there could be hope for next year.

Should they fire the OC? Bring in some different offensive coaches? Say screw it, and just play Oden the rest of the year? I really do not know what the answer is, and I am actually (pleasantly) surprised that the recruits haven't all bailed on Rutgers.

Until there is better talent and coaching the future is bleak because the B1G level of competition is too strong for Rutgers right now.Michigan State is destroying Rutgers and they were winless against league competition.

Here's the deal. We never recruited that well. Even when Greg had his best years he got the most out of our team thanks to coaching and average at bets scheduling.

Than in his last 4 years maybe 5 the recruiting uptick began; culminating in two very good classes right before he left. Flood was the benefactor of all that talent.

Meanwhile, Flood, at the helm was recruiting classes worse than the Schiano uptick classes. On top of that, guys were leaving the program, and player development sucks.

This is a select group of smart posters wanted Flood out before year one in e the big ten because 8 wins was guaranteed based on our talent and corresponding talent in the big ten (which has been on the rise in recent years). A coach would've won 9 games, proved Rutgers belonged in the big, and would've had the big name to build on Schianos reciting classes.

A rebuild would not have been necessary.

The only silver lining is that we are so bad that I feel less invested, and therefore not really as upset as I would be if this game mattered and/or we had a chance. Almost no point in watching next week.

Basically the win against South Florida in 2013 was the worst thing to ever happen to Rutgers Football?

Yes, that South Florida win was the worst thing to happen to Rutgers football.

Good I was tourched for saying it. But, no one worth it was going to coach for Julie. We are paying for Pernetti's short term fix in 2011 to keep that class together and we are going to pay the devil 10yrs of misery.

We are f**ked folks for a very long time.

Good post - that's why many of us wanted Flood gone after that very underperforming year 2 with some very good talent.

That the recruits haven't bailed on the program and that you're proposing a course of action that begins with the coach saying to the rest of the student-athletes in the program, "Screw it ..." is the disconnect that explains why this is all OK, and you need not worry about how colossally bad this team is -- relative to Big Ten competition -- at the moment.

Flood's 2013 class would've the best in school history, including every one of Schiano's. I'm not arguing that Flood should still be here, or was a world-class coach, but everyone seems to conveniently forget the quality of the class he put together before the fans hit the chicken switch. It always comes down to Flood's shitty recruiting with the critics, but I can't fully reconcile that with the fact that he got verbals out of all those kids.

Recruit. That's all that can be done. Football is a monumental climb. We are competing against gold standard programs. It's going to take a lot of time. If it happens.

If you can't stomach it or do t understand, I suggest you do something else on Saturday's.
