What has disappeared from the Jersey landscape ?

That's #1

2. The back 9 at Orchard Hills Golf Course, now the campus of Bergen County Community College

3. The farm stands on Paramus Road near Orchard Hills where you could pick up fresh corn and tomatoes.
The farm stand in Paterson near the tracks and one block west of Clifton

What do you remember as a kid that was a fun thing to do or a place to go, but is now gone ?

A few things come to mind right away - Steward Root Beer Stands and Drive-in movies. Still have a drive-in, but it's across the NY border in Warwick, NY. Real nice setting on a stary night.

Sports World/ Sports 'n Games lazer tag places.

Skating rinks like Skaters World.

The dine-in polynesian style "night out" Chinese restaurants are also almost extinct. I can only think of one or two left....Chan's Dragon Inn and Lee's Hawaiian Islander.

Finally, Terrace Lake itself (condos)

- The water slide at Pt. Pleasant
- Rickels
- Caldor
- Pal's Cabin (never went there myself, but was a fixture in West Orange)
- Eagle Rock Diner
- The NJ Nets (didn't really follow them, but they're gone from NJ now)
Okay since you've gone down the retailers part; what about Bradlees and Two Guys. Bamberger's. Hahne's and on and on.

Mr. Softee truck on hot summer nights, transistor radios, pocket knives, Schwinn Stingrays, wiffle ball, places to hunt and fish, swimming in a river, baseball cards, run of the neighborhood, coatrooms at school smelling of wet wool and galoshes during the winter, no Rt 80, and many other fond memories.

Don't know if they actually recruited. I think guys just said I'm going to Penn St and that was that. College was affordable for most people and that's if you wanted to go there, especially in the 50' s.

I think Franco Harris and Lydel Mitchell got recruited.

Uh, unless I'm crazy Mother's is still there. Mother's Ale House? There's a huge sign for it just north of Willowbrook.

Circle's to navigate while driving. Haven't most of them been removed. Mercifully. I still remember the one on Route 1 in Elizabeth and the one on South Ave in I believe Westfield.

The Final Exam night club on Sussex Turnpike.

The soda fountain at JJ Newberrys

The Hackettstown- Roxbury morning Thanksgiving football games (I played in 3).

18 year old legal to drink when I turned 18 - no more trips to Greenwood lake lol

In NYC - Freedomland and The Worlds Fair was spectacular, especially as a 5&6th grader
The Newberry' s in NB had balloons hanging behind the counter and if you ordered a banana split, you picked a balloon and inside was the price you would pay. They only cost $ 1.50 anyway so it never was higher then that, but as low as a quarter. Nice snack on the way home from HS.

Little Jimmy's Italian Ice trucks also.

Bamberger's and Ohrbach's I considered Newark's version of Macy's and Gimbels.
Going to the movies in Downtown Newark was either in the balcony of Loew’s or The Paramount .
All are gone now

You must be crazy then because Mothers Ale House is a sports bar (not a night club) at a different location.

Anybody know if it ever spun around?

And on Rte. 9 in Howell right when you come off 195. It sells Fat sandwiches btw. They seem to be big RU fans there.
Don't think the one in Flemington is actually Stewards anymore. Just the same colors. The one in Branchbuug is now a park-n-ride.

You could get killed going through the Green St. Circle in Woodbridge. If I remember correctly the Circles in NJ and the Rotaries in Massachusetts have/had completely different rules of right-of-way.

The old pier in Long Branch...now that antiseptic "pier village" is there...[sick]

What is even crazier the ones on 34 in Wall have different rules.

Suntan Lake. Some of the best concerts I ever went to were their Suntan Jams.
