What has disappeared from the Jersey landscape ?

The first thing that came to mind this morning when I saw the thread was, recently, our Gov. We saw him during his first term, then "poof"

Awesome place, bought an amazing system there in the 80's - QLN speakers, Hafler Amp, NAD preamp

That's funny - I almost bought a Hafler amp from them for my DJ business back in the mid-80's.

Front Street in Plainfield. Mid 60s. Bustling shops. Clean. Orderly. Prosperous. Rockwellian. Remember fondly the tradition of lighting the town Christmas tree, complete with live music. And then, "Poof!" All gone. Forever.

Another Stewarts on 22 in the Clinton/Readington area.

My 1st job was there; I was the tray man (I would bring the food to the car and hook the tray onto the driver side window). I made some good tips for basically doing nothing.

That's #1

2. The back 9 at Orchard Hills Golf Course, now the campus of Bergen County Community College

3. The farm stands on Paramus Road near Orchard Hills where you could pick up fresh corn and tomatoes.
i was a caddy at orchard hills cc, walked the back nine more times than i can remember. after caddying we went across to the farm stand for refreshing, fresh and cold black cherries.

You could get killed going through the Green St. Circle in Woodbridge. If I remember correctly the Circles in NJ and the Rotaries in Massachusetts have/had completely different rules of right-of-way.
The rotaries and roundabouts in pretty much every place in the world give right of way to those already in the circle. In NJ there are basically no rules.

small local banks..poof gone...local pharmacies....they are virtually gone...everything now is a chain..so sad...ditto for the local shoe store or army navy...virtually every small mom and pop store is done..so sad to see all at the expense of so called progress from corporations eating every thing up

Woolworth's -- recall going to one in Somerville and eating at the counter a bunch of times.

Arcades at malls.....spent countless hours at the one in Flemington Mall back in the 80's.

yes spent many a day with my mom shopping at Woolworth and Marty Orshan Army Navy Store

the Woolworth building is still there...now an antique store but its virtually unchanged structure wise.two floors
