1) Will Cam hit some outside shots?
2) Will Paul be more willing to score?
3) Will Mag continue improving offensively?
4) Will Hyatt build off his good performance versus Fairfield?
5) How much PT will Dean, Miller, and the freshmen get?
6) Can we hold Columbia under 60 points?

Thoughts?

1 Cam - yes, at least two.

2 Paul - yes, but will still look to get his teammates going first.

3 Mag - from what I read about the scrimmage, this is a gimme. He really only had one stellar game on O last season. Question is, how improved will he be this year, assuming he stays healthy?

4 Hyatt - I think so. I hope the game slows down for him some this year.

5 - Simpson first guard off the bench today, will play a lot of minutes. Dean vs Woolfolk, harder to say without knowing Dean's status. I suspect Chol is limited today. Miller's minutes will depend on score and if Columbia has a guard get hot from outside.

6 - I won't be surprised with anything from 55 to 65 for Columbia today.

The only one I’d be careful of is #3. I want Mag to be aggressive but within himself; too aggressive or concerned with box score would lead to to’s and poor decisions.

1) 3+ threes

2) He doesn't need to in this game. They really stink. I think as a pass first PG, he will be looking to make sure he gets the rest of the guys off to a strong start for the season

3) Yes, he actually could have scored a bunch more in the exhibition. Missed a few bunnies around the rim

4) Most likely he plays with confidence and scores fairly easily when he takes it to the rim. Perimeter defense suspect

5) Hopefully it is a complete blowout and they play a lot. The only real value for these really terrible games is getting the bench minutes. Starters need to come ready to play and wipe the floor with them so the end of the bench can get some run

6) Yes, maybe some late garbage points get them over 60, but they could be sub 50 if the intensity is there all game

Good or bad I am not going to overreact about what i see offensively.

I want to see the things that are completely in our control controlled
1. Dominate both glasses
2. Take Columbia out of their comfort zone offensively
3. Defend the 3 point line
4. How certain individuals defend both off the ball and on.

Wanna see, based on a message board tradition, which player or players will some on the board overreact about.... Could be Miller again with the stupid playing 5 vs 4 comments.

My guess is Hyatt. Posters will overreact to everything he does.... 😂

Would be awesome if Geo will continue to visit the board and maybe provide insight concerning the games played. Real insight from a guy who actually played the sport at that level would be a welcomed addition. I just hope he stays away from the game threads.

The two things to look for in every game is rebounding and making 3 point shots. They might not be difference makers against Columbia but they will be against power conference opponents. The loss of 26 points from Baker and Harper must be made up by returning players scoring more points and the new players Spencer and Simpson contributing from the 3 point line.

Sitting behind the bench vs Fairfield, I was able to hear Coach clearly. I would like to see a more active defense and better close outs on 3 point shooters because that was what he wanted to see. He also got on Cliff a couple times about not leaving his feet, btw.

1) Check.
2) Scored 10, but stayed a playmaker. Only 2 TOs.
3) Still needs to get comfortable. Not as natural a scorer as Hyatt.
4) Yes. Good game.
5) Simpson first off the bench. settled down as the game went on. Made some very good plays. Dean was ok, with a little less PT than I expected.
6) Check, lol.

The team will be much better with Caleb. Can't wait to see him.
