Who else is not convinced HCKF will be fired?

I was harassed for three years over me wa ting Flood gone. Three years the Floodies name called, hunted me on Facebook, and a few insulted my wife.
It's my time to enjoy this now!!!

And much of that was uncalled for under any circumstance. I've heard you mention the wife attack but never saw the post(s) that caused it. That's horrible. Facebook isn't something I deal with so I'm at least innocent there.

I think in retrospect even you understand why some of your statements led to verbal abuse from me and others. It was something most of us could never wrap our heads around. I like to think it's in the past at least from my side but only you can make the final decision.

I have had opinions all along.

I guess it's a failing that I can't separate loyalty. I felt as long as he was HC of the team I care about I was going to defend him AND the players. I have also long believed that not everything that happened was something he could control. Unlike many, I don't get wrapped up in personnel decisions because if I knew better I should be on the sidelines and you don't want that. Last time I strapped it on we were running the single wing with a little Split T mixed in near the end.

For clarity purposes, I've only made my decision to speak because I see RU losing a large portion of it's always fragile fan base if he continues. Remember I was there when RU was drawing 15-16,000 for Lehigh and Lafayette. That to me would be as big a disaster as any loss and likely more when you consider all the financial issues we all know. You have to give people hope if you want them to pony up and that's in short supply now.

Finally, being a fan and rooting for RU is fun for me, not life or death. If I ever find myself getting as upset as some here do, I'll just walk away.

I think you've hit the collective nail on the head with this post. As posted plenty of times before, my opinion is that fan/donor apathy and reduction due to negligible or zero hope for Flood-coached teams is more dangerous than a temporary financial hit.

I've been vocal about wanting Flood fired after the season because after September I decided that move would not only benefitting Rutgers football, but also preventing the university's overall athletic and flagship reputation.

All this nonsense about posters wanting to be proven correct and throw crow in each other's faces is pointless. As both a Rutgers alum and football diehard, I'm going to be forced to think long and hard whether I'd bother to continue watching Flood-coached teams after this season. It's just a game/entertainment,and therefore not worth getting upset over poor team performance, baffling schemes/personnel decisions, unwatchable coach-speak and worst off all player academic transgressions and arrests past a certain point. If pushed beyond that point I may take a reprieve from the program, and would not nearly be the only one doing so. The difference between us on this board and more casual fans, especially non-alums with little other connection to Rutgers, is that it would take a long time (or perhaps a nearly-impossible 10-win season) to win the latter back, if they'd ever be interested in returning.

Rebuilding the team roster and units would likely be a tall task; rebuilding a fanbase seems exponentially more difficult, especially with a grueling B1G schedule ahead.

There is a personal component for me not liking the man. When he is fired, I'll reveal it. I promise. It's good.

Alli know is that Flood has to be one of the luckiest guys around. He got a good head coaching job (good because he should have had to start in a much lower division or conference) that he had no business getting and yet again has found himself possibly needing wins to save his job and who does he face? Arguably the two worst teams not named Norfolk.

If he wins both he makes Rutgers think about the decision but I think Julie convinces them that RU needs to make a move. If he loses one or more he's got no chance. Even if RU has to go cheap, I think a loss in the last two will convince them to do so. The "he's a nice guy" argument is over...

I don't understand for the life of me people who defend any coach because he's currently the head coach and you are to support him reason. That makes absolutely no sense. Guys, Flood is a multimillionaire and a liar who has driven this program straight into the ground. The next coach will need several years to build it back up. You can see we have 0 depth and the talent is horrible. It's going to take at minimum 2 additional years to repair what Flood has done.

Then things will make a lot more sense. Even though I was never enamored with Flood, it did disturb me how joyous you seemed about the whole thing when the email situation first leaked. I must eat crow in that I really couldn't fathom the extent to which Flood's desperation and stupidity reached. Both you and the SL clearly knew more than I did.

I think there is a great deal of frustration and anger on this board to the point where it has become a bit disconcerting. I’ve seen people single out posters or better yet calling out bullies and labeling them as members of the Nazi Youth party, posting pictures. For those who want Flood fired please keep in mind that beating Maryland or Army for that matter is no easy task. I see us beating Army but Maryland is going to be a very tough game. The only real advantage I see is playing them at home.

I will say this ONE MORE TIME: some of our posters need to step out of their little bubble worlds, watch college football beyond Rutgers games and visit other boards from time to time. They will learn:

--people upset with the coach when things are going badly is NORMAL and EVERYONE DOES IT; the worse things are going the more they do it

--Rutgers fans are probably the most patient fans in all of college football, not the least by any stretch of the imagination

--few boards have as many annoying prissy board police telling others what they should and should not post as this one does (although all boards seem to have the overuse of the word "hater" for anyone who dares criticize someone else)

--our offense is unbelievably tame, stale, boring and predictable compared to most others

Geez, you'd think we beat Army already. If the players are as distracted as the fan base, I dunno...

Is a "Floodie" a person that wants Flood fired or a person that thinks Flood might be here next year? I don't get mad about FLood anymore, I'm just waiting for this replacement before watching Rutgers football again.

If the rumors about the second investigation are true than 90 point victories won't save his job.

it is a real unknown - I have an opinion - but really hard to say what will happen in reality
- sometimes get the sense that the key decision makers at RU are interested in moving toward a higher level of on field performance - but are very reserved & methodical -

Sometimes it seems that their inclination / view point is -
- better to endure another year or two with limited resources with an inadequate coach & then, when increased resources become available, seek out a true leader
than
- seeking out a true leader & frustrate them by handicapping them with limited resources - and have them soured or gone when the real resources arrive.

It doesn't matter to me if you or anyone else agrees. My reasons are mine and nothing more.

I think the inevitable firing is a figment of our imagination. Would not be at all surprised if he is here next year. Sure hope not, but not buying this is a done deal.

Up for a little Rutgers trolling today I see.

I'd go with somewhere between apathy and a refusal to spend the necessary money.

Again, as with the rest, once you say that "Saying he will stay" is an affirmation of defeat, which I will not accept. We(Alumnus/Fans) do have a say, power(if you believe $$$ has power), and the right not accept the same ol, same ol. If you say "he will stay" is a form of acceptance or defeat. Just not in my DNA.
wow..give it a break....no one is accepting defeat regardless of your "tough guy" DNA...please by all means whip out your checkbook....

I would think that a good OC would have a price to coach an average team. To save their reputation they can always saw I did the best with an undermanned team. As for our defense, the players were in position most of the times but could not bring their guy down against the tough teams. I am not counting the mistakes the new players made, those mistakes weren't actually from bad coaching.

If Rutgers had unlimited money Flood would be gone and we would hire a super star coach who would bring in his team.

Paying up for an OC or a DC <> unlimited money for a HC. They are different world's of money. We paid up for an OC, there were reports that we had similar money on the table for a DC, he just din;'t want to come here.

As others said, this puts your Flood posts in context. Depending on the nature of the issue, probably many here would have same feelings you do. I'll reserve judgement after the big reveal.

Agree...but I fear that if he wins out, donors will get cold feet again. It's hard to make decisive change when you are dependent on a bunch of people to all agree on something. If we go 5-7 I predict an awkward week where Julie is silent and then when things don't work out to give a half hearted vote of confidence. I absolutely HATE rooting against RU, but a loss vs Army would really put the nail in the coffin and help us move on.

This is just the normal game week flow. At hte beginning of the week, after a big blowout everyone is convinved he will go. Once hes not fired on Monday, people slowly start to doubt.

I wouldnt say I am 100% confident, but if Herman can't convince Barchi to fire Flood after we failed to sell out against NEBRASKA, then we probably need a new coach, AD, and president.

if there is something really bad in the second investigation and there are significant NCAA violations I think flood and those in charge will be gone but I hope not--if he wins next two he probably stays since the so called affect of those not going to the games, etc. has really not yet happened and may not next year

Then how would NCAA violations affect the next HC. Should be interesting to see how that would play out.

Did you attend the Nebraska game last Saturday? The student section was damn near empty, Nebraska fans dominated the north endzone, and it was clear that many season ticketholders on the west sideline had sold their tickets to rival fans as well. The stadium will most likely look sparser when Rutgers plays Maryland because there will not be thousands of rival team fans to help fill the seats.
I am willing to wager that the negative effects on game attendance, donations, and parking/concessions/merchandise sales would very much be noticeable next season if Flood is somehow retained. Even wins over bad Army and Maryland teams would not significantly alter those circumstances.
