Didn't miss an opportunity to mention that the running back for Iowa was "back for his homecoming".

Mention it once or twice....but every time.

Ax to grind much?

Imagine if this journalist is doing the RU-Michigan game. Who won't be having a home coming....and we'll have the Pep-O-Meter ready at all times.

F' ESPN / F' this talking head.

calm down people - she doesnt have a vendetta against us! she kept bringing it up because she met his family in the same hotel. she doesnt cover rutgers solely so she's just going with the storyline that she is most familiar with. if that dude wasnt so successful against us she wouldnt be bringing it up as much.

He would have been a lot less successful if the TD run had been called a hold by Iowa against our CB Austin allowing the ex-patriot to score.

If you have five factoids in a bullet list of game notes, and know nothing else, you keep peppering them in all day long.

No.

I've actually listened to the best.

Motor Mouth Chic Hearn could take one factoid and spin it into War / Peace easily without repeating a single page.

Vin Scully would be able to take NO FACTOIDS / give you a complete history of the World relative to the game in triology format.

Maybe should have given equal time to the Iowans that suited up for Rutgers. Oh wait - never mind.

Really though it's a pain in the butt when there is always some star(s) from the opposing team that is a Jerseyan.

She's done a lot of our games going all the way back to Big East. She's not easy to listen to sometimes.

I listened to the ESPN broadcast while painting some walls, and couldn't follow the game at all. I know it's supposed to be TV commentary, not radio, so they are expecting that I'm watching. But damn. First of all, the crowd noise was mixed in so loud that I couldn't hear the commentators. Then, they both use the "OMG something happened!" style without describing who did it or what happened. Since the Iowa fans were so vocal, I couldn't even go by the crowd noise.

I guess I'm old fashioned. I like broadcasters to tell me who is doing what on the field, rather than doing a talk show and occasionally yelping when something exciting happens...

I turned off the sound. Looked up the game in the morning, saw her name, and knew I couldn't listen. Trying to sync up to the radio call can be a pain so I just let my kids turn on Ghostbusters lol

I was painting too. Look at what Mowins made my room look like.

There you go. Comparing Beth Mowins to Vin Scully and Chic Hearn...

Catch anybody on your lawn this week? Kids just aren't the same anymore, smh.

Every Saturday at noon on ESPN2. Beth Mowins is awful. Fortunately for me I was listening to the UW-MSU game and watching your game with the sound off. Probably couldn't have managed otherwise.

Beth Mowins is without question a horrible color analyst ... her drab and dreary delivery to the listening audience is agonizing ... fact: the ONLY reason she's on ESPN is because she satisfies their P.C. side for them...would assume Disney has a great say in her being there...in fairness there are a multitude of male announcers who don't belong doing commentary for live sporting events on tv...

She is hideous to listen to. I 'mowin' every time she does one of our games.

It's not just Mowins, although she's not my favorite. The problem for me is that every game the broadcasters prepare as if the team we are playing is the home team in a local broadcast. I think it's a reflection of the very low expectations for our team and the announcers are biased towards the more well-known and historically competitive programs. Like they are anticipation a blowout and have all these notes to fill time. When we stay competitive, I don't think they have much on us to discuss. I dread listening to next week's game.

I look forward to the days when I can watch the games with an unbiased crew that spends as much time talking about us.

Don't Need to. Just got my package from Rutgers (donation).

I have two Scarlet Knights in my condo in CA...dumb F's probably think I'm a member of the NRA and I am:
National Rutgers Association!

Interesting take. On the Final Drive on BTN last night, the distinct tone of the RU Iowa game was WTF was wrong with Iowa letting Rutgers hang with them for the whole game, and not a sound about how well our defense played and how we left 3 scores on the table. It was a feeling of being dismissive that RU belonged on the same field as Iowa.

Was on the road yesterday and have found that watching via tape delay is too stressful, I'm constantly fast forwarding. So I listened to the RU radio broadcast for the first 3 quarters and found it quite enjoyable. Lucas is a huge homer but has no trouble calling it like he sees it

I'm sure there are some on this board who find Ms. Mowins attractive...maybe even MILF material...especially after a saturday of tailgating.
