MSU vs Louisville at the Carrierdome? Really of all the new arenas with better locations the NCAA picked Syracuse NY? Literally dozens of other cities to select over Syracuse.

They've used the CarrierDome many times because they can seat close to 40,000.

Just like all the tournaments, there's a bidding process.

Reviews mostly negative from Friday games, so doubt that will help them for future bids.

Well there's about 10,000 empty seats so that doesn't make sense.

Even so 30000 people is a lot more than a typical NBA arena.

The fact it seats so much was likely the key. Not many indoor facilities in the east that seat that much.

i have no idea where youre getting the 30k number from, but that stadium is mostly packed except for one tiny section in the corner.

Not watching game..but Chip said about 10k empties. So 40k-10k is 30k, hence the number.

article from Friday said attendance was 28k for Friday double header..again still more than an arena

Is this question for real....they have before and the fan support it...its not football stop the bashing

On TV it looks like a much better place to watch a game than Houston. Most of the fans in Houston look like they're miles from the court. Carrier dome is more vertical in the "end zone" so fans are much closer to the action. Also, no annoying platform.

Houston looks absolutely awful.

Is this question for real? Yes it is.

The Prudential in Newark got it a few years ago, awesome. Now the NCAAs won't let any big event happen in NJ for trying to Legalized Sports betting through. Go figure.

Another reason why a new arena would make sense, maybe someday Rutgers could host some regional games.

It remains a silly question.

And the idea that Rutgers would ever build an arena big enough to host NCAA regionals is even sillier.

Regionals will be in Philly next season for the East region, just bought my tickets a couple of weeks ago

Rutgers did host some games within the last decade. It was just at Continental, and the big Block R on the court really rankled some SHU fans.

Pru center hosted, so did MSG, and Philly is next year.

For the East region they have Boston, Philly, NY, and DC as major cities. They have also used Charlotte as an Eastern city in the past. Since it is the east and not the Northeast they can also use Atlanta or a Florida city too. They try to move it around as much as possible. Don't be surprised if the Barclays center gets it at some point in the future.

Attendance was 24,404. So I said there was 10,000 empty seats. There was actually more

Friday Night's Double Header Attendance: 24,453

Sunday's Michigan State vs Louisville Attendance: 24,403

Many fans from out-of-town were shocked that even their high priced tickets were for "bleacher seats"...something not found at most NCAA selected Arenas/Domes.

NOTE: Biggest crowd ever for a Syracuse Hoop Game at the Dome: 35,446 (and thats with the current set up with the court at "one end" of the Dome, just like in the regular season for Cuse and for the NCAA's...as Cuse thought of moving the court to the middle of the floor for a game vs Duke so 50,000 could attend the game but they decided against that as it would be unfair to all the season tix holders with seats currently close to the action).

I'm not doubting that you saw these figures somewhere, but there is no WAY there more people actually in attendance on Friday than Sunday.

On Friday, you probably had fans who only attended the game their team was playing.

Seating

Pittsburgh hosted one of the NCAA Regionals at the Consol Energy Center (Penguins Home Ice/new facility)
and it can hold only about 18,000.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

That was really a sub-regional.
