Why are we not hearing GS to Rutgers speculation in the national media?

Just heard on Sirius the B10 guy Rick Pizzo saying that because Hobbs declared Ash his guy pre season that he won't go back on that 4 months later--the ego and embarrassment arguments many have feared. That Ash will be here one more year primarily for that but also because amount owed goes down each year and money issues are to be considered.

You would think someone would be floating the GS issue if it was at all viable. Hoping that it's all being done in a competent back channel manner, but not sure when we have seen that at RU,so thought we'd be hearing at least some speculation as GS is likely done year 3 and we are headed to 1-11 in year 3. Remarkable that 1-11 in a third year and no great recruiting class to look to wouldn't generate huge discussions and speculation. Fear that it may take some embarrassing last two weeks to create the pressure.

Maybe it is all happening, and that the back channels have no leaks. Certainly have been threads started indicating that discussions were taking place.
I'm heading to Subway on Easton to grab lunch. Will report back if I hear anything.

Yes please do report after the Subway visit, where all is set forth!

Seriously would be impressed as hell if this was pulled off with little to no leaks

Or Waiting for Godot part Deux:

When even Schiano's people aren't floating the idea (simply as a way to get interest in him for the Buffalo or Syracuse job)... you know it has zero legs...

That is one distinct possibility.

The other is that there are real and discreet back channel discussions and GS has realized he really wants to be here with all that he never had (big time conference and facilities).

Make sure you wear your trench coat...it's snowing out there.
Also, if you don't mind stopping by to see my son's professor to see if he can get him some extra credit?

Who are Schiano’s people?
I don’t recall any floating of his name for Buffalo or Syracuse.

come one Zap... It's Jimmy Sexton who represents most SEC head coaches, a bunch of other P5 head coaches and ADs and many in sports media... y'know how these things work with "rumors".... names get put out there to gin-up interest in other spots...

Very true.

Which is why even if he didnt want the RU job one would think that it would be FLOATED to "gin up interest". That was the nature of why it's curious we don't hear it.

Because Greg doesn’t want to come back to RU.

He wants to be a candidate for many jobs, not just RU.
If RU is his only choice to return to the College HC ranks, think he'd want to come back.
That said, it won't be next year he comes in my personal opinion Hobbs will give Ash at least the 2019 season to prove he can make RU FB into a competitive program against the best of the B1G.

Schiano might have a HC job by the time Ash is let go. If that's the case, I think he'll accept the RU job if offered and not demand a high salary for himself, but want adequate funding to hire a good staff.

Has there been any speculation in the media about Rutgers at all? Does the national media even care??
