Will rutgers fans storm the field if we beat Washington ?
Please note, this is a simple yes or no question on whether rutgers fans storm the field or not . Do not pollute this thread with thoughts on whether or not it’s appropriate to storm the field. Just simply stick to the question, whether we storm or not.

I vote yes. Biggest game here in a decade. Night game against last year’s finalist . Fans will storm if we win!
Rule of thumb: if a poll has a result with a 70% or more choice, then it is a dumb topic to poll.

Generally the field is stormed when a team wins against a tough opponent in the last few minutes or seconds. I wouldn't mind people storming the field, it does get on a lot of tv channels.

That's a good point. If it's a super-close win in a tense game, or a big comeback, that changes the narrative.

Didn't hear Colorado taking any heat for last week's Baylor storming, even though Baylor wasn't ranked. Well, maybe for storming before the game was technically over but not for the concept of storming.

Here's an interesting addon to this question.

How many of you purists snobs would be out there on the field if they do storm the field.

If this pumps up the students and the program it could be a nice catalyst for fan support.

It’s a landslide so far . With 87% voting that there will not be a field storming in the event of Rutgers win

And the irony is those same fans would be the ones on here leading the complaints about how the stadium atmosphere wasn’t electric enough if we didn’t storm.

So which is it?

We have a long way to go to get ranked, likely 7-0 to crack the AP25. A win this week will probably get us some votes in the 1-10 range.

I don’t want to send this thread down a rabbit hole on this point but there is -0- point we wouldn’t be ranked in both polls at 5-0. There would be a very good chance with a win next week with a lot of ranked teams playing each other along, teams like Illinois confronting likely losses, etc. but again - let’s not go there. It’s possible we’d still be left out but two more wins and there’d be no doubt. There are only 26 undefeated teams left period as of right now.

I will go the opposite way. I think we should storm the field after every win. Make it a Rutgers thing!

I know your joking, but the reason it doesn’t happen places is because of the fines associated. Not something you do often.

I didn’t say it had to with Navy or the point spread. Just was pointing out the storms during schiano’s reign .
So why did you include if they were favorite or dogs??
For an OP who only wanted yes or no answer you are sure yakking away. 🙄

He obviously didn’t mean it that way. He wasn’t saying don’t post and only reply to the poll. He was trying to confine discussion to reasons why we would or would not do it - rather than if we “should”.

Reason For - 4-0 and possibly ranked for the first time since 2012 is reason to celebrate

Reason Against - The win itself isn’t a big deal because it’s technically expected. We’re favored.

Off Limits - We should act like we’ve been there before. That would be pathetic.

Just adding here - we actually haven’t been 4-0 in 12 years. Thats a long time - certainly something to be excited about. I can understand why some fans are looking at the spread and thinking of it as a game we should win though. I can see both perspectives.

No. I think most of our fans are knowledgeable enough to know that this isn't last year's Washington. They would be thrilled with a good conference win. Now if the students got caught up in the moment, so be it. It would be fun. That said, boy is thread some bad juju for Friday.
You guys thinking it’s appropriate to storm the field for beating an unranked opponent are why the country makes fun of Rutgers.
But the majority of posters here are in opposition to it. Why the unnecessary Rutgers hate?

Because some guy mentioned the spread .
Just pointed out the spreads in other storming games

Do you remember if we were favored against USF or Michigan ? Just wondering

You said it better than me (except I don’t think this thread has any bearing on the game outcome. Despite the comments everyone knows this is going to be a tough game).

I can see it being difficult for the student section in a packed Blackout atmosphere to pass up the opportunity in the thick of the excitement of a 4-0 start. Let’s hope we create the opportunity for them to embarrass our elder fans!

I believe we were favored in the Michigan game. I vaguely remember a Politi article about how we were the better team, even Vegas knew it.

That's why I corrected you. Navy's point spread was irrelevant, as was the opponent.
Yes I do know who was favored in the other two games. 😂

We still needed Nova to play out of his mind, get a favorable call and then a field goal block.

Even in 1992, we had two late season wins to become bowl eligible at home against West Virginia and temple. I don’t think we stormed.

Bowl eligible didn't exist in 1992. A lot less bowls. The only storm game I know of was the last Princeton game.

lol we are rutgers fans !!!! We are as low

It’s like this - in 2020 we stormed the RAC after beating a 9th or 10th ranked Maryland team. We were a bubble team at the time. That was probably a pick em game. In the same situation now, there’s no way we would storm. At the time, it was fine. That’s where our program was at then. As far as I’m concerned - 4-0 in this situation would be similar context. That win close to stamped out ticket to the Dance that never happened to break a 30 year drought. This win would set us up for a national ranking in football provided most other games go as expected.
