Getting a late start on this annual thread. Please post any WNBA info. Only 3 Knights still playing with Piph's retirement. Betnijah Laney-Hamilton remains with NY Liberty, Kahleah Copper traded out to Phoenix(ugh), and Erica Wheeler remains with Indiana.
Tidbits; Kah scored 38 points for her debut in Phoenix. Wheeler gets to share the backcourt with Caitlin Clark.
More info at WNBA.com for those interested.
Go Knights!

Ms. Copper had only 37 last night in Phoenix win over Vegas 98-88. 15-23, 5-9 from 3, 2nd player in WNBA history to have 35+ in back to back games. Meh, making Chicago look pretty stupid for trading her. Hopefully, our youngins get to see some of her games.

Chicago vs NY Liberty @ Barclay's 7pm tonight. Go Betnijah! Saw someplace that the game is on WWOR-my 9?
Also, Prime?
Phoenix game at10 isn't on TV here. Wanted to see our former player, now our Coach Ms. KFC.

Ugh. NY Liberty lost 2nd game in a row out in Minny 84-67. They looked like garbage. Betnijah awful as well. She played 36 minutes and had 4 points on 2-8 shooting. Can anyone explain to me why she stands in either corner on offense?
Our friend Eric Brewton was one of the refs today. Also, Alex Rodriguez was at the game to see his team dominate. Not sure what his title is, part owner?

Indiana got it's 1st win last night. Record is now 1-5. Clark had11 points in 37 minutes on 4-14 shooting. This ain't the BIG10 Caitlin.
Haven't seen any reason but Erica's minutes have been drastically cut. 12 minutes, one point last game, and game before that 15 minutes, and 2 points.

Oh well, Kah came back down to earth only scoring 7 points, Taurasi with 6 I think. So CT remains undefeated thus far.

And again Erica for Indy got only 15 minutes off the bench. Clark got 30. So what? They still lost to LA.

I watched the game. Erica played most of the late game as a defensive specialist and so far as it goes she did fine.

Indiana crashed and burned when Clark was not on the floor, although it is still very uneven. I didn't think Boston played well, nor did they seem a very cohesive team.

Due to injuries, Arizona grad Aari McDonald played quite a bit for LA and did extremely well. The announcers made their gratuitous "she got 19 and only averages 3 points a game" without pointing out that if she scored 6 times as many points she probably played 4 or more times her usual minutes. Just saying, they were busy pumping up Kia Nurse, who was the star for LA this particular game.

NY Liberty 7-2 vs Chicago Sky 3-4. Channel 9 @ 8PM. Liberty have won the last couple of games. Betnijah has been HOT. Finally getting some very good press. Everyone will be watching Angel Reese, and their other hothead CC. Last game CC came from behind, and slammed into Caitlin Clark. Dirty play. Being discussed all over the internet. Refs didn't call anything, next day a flagrant foul was assessed. Coach Weatherspoon needs to get control over these two hotheads. The Iowa message board guys have been raving all kinds of racial, and sexual comments. Quite surprised at the level of racism, and homophobia that is allowed on that board.
Oh, the other CC is for Chennedy Carter. She has quite the rep for being a dirty player.

CC's getting the Hack a Shaq treatment.
But not because of keeping her from scoring like it was with Shaq, but for jealousy of all the attention CC is getting since she was drafted.

Liberty win 88-75 over Sky. "Angel" Reese double tech towards end of game. Laney 14 pts, and 5 assists. Lib kids are now 8-2. Coach Crystal Robinson old time Liberty great better put the Angel on notice. Crystal is no Mulkey.
Phoenix loses again. Kah high scorer with 19.

FYI...A'ja Wilson became the 1st player in WNBA history to get 35 pts, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals in a game last night for Vegas.

FYI...NY Liberty play tonight. 7:30 on channel 9. Can Betnijah keep up her awesome play?

Liberty just finished 3 games in 4 days all without Vandersloot their pg.
Yesterday they took out previously unbeaten Conn up in their house 82-75. Laney had 10 pts, 6 assists.
Today, they beat winless Washington93-88, Jonquel Jones with 29 pts. Laney with 10 boards.
Now they get the week off.

Phoenix beats Dallas 97-90 in 2 OT's. Our assistant coach Ms. Copper only had 29 points, and played 44 minutes. Other than being in tip top shape I wanna know what she is eating.

Indiana(Clark) finally won a game. Clark was a total non-factor again.
she's a rookie and like most needs to learn the pro game before being able to play her best.
Some great college players just aren't pro material, some shine after getting to know how the pro game works.
If Caitlin did anything, it was making the WNBA far more popular to basketball fans than it ever was before.
But for Clark to shine like expected, she needs to cut her TOs , then improve her shooting.
Averaging just under 16 a game isn't bad , but her shooting percentage needs to improve along with cutting down her turnovers.

NY Liberty smacked the Vegas Aces 90-82. All these games have been won without Vandersloot. JJ with 32. Good all around game for Betnijah.

Our KFC with another day, another 30 point game. Phoenix wins.
Elsewhere, just another flagrant for Angel Reese against? Yup, Caitlin Clark. If Coach Weatherspoon can't get a grip on her, then the WNBA best do something pronto!
Edit to add: Indiana won anyway.

There was nothing there. It was fragrant because WNBA rules say if the head is hit then it is upgraded. No intent was found, Angel went to block a shot and hit Caitlin in the head. Or, as the ref put it, unnecessary but not excessive.

While I didn't think anything Angel did was outrageous, she did pick up a bunch of fouls. She needs to work on that. I disliked her style/attitude in college, it seemed a bit less pronounced in the W.

When you have the type of reputation Angel is earning and becoming known as an overly aggressive player , that makes the calls more against her on the harsh side than the let them play type .
Also Clark is getting more hard fouls than should be considered welcome to the WNBA type by refs , so Angel will not get the benefit of doubt when she fouls Caitlin .

That's all fine. And somewhat true. But it just didn't apply in the game, which is one of the few I watched this year. And I'll add that the physicality and fouls in this and the other games I watch is making them almost unwatchable. Reese was complaining about selective foul calls after the game, and it wasn't the Clark call, it was the numerous times that - by college standards - she was fouled as she went to make shots under the basket. But not apparently by WNBA standards.

And just to make sure I wasn't confusing in my remark - it was a Flagrant 1 foul, properly called. It wasn't nasty behavior by Reese, as noted in remarks by both coaches and Clark, just a bit of a risky basketball move gone bad. Appropriate punishment, and not bad behavior on Reese's part.

Liberty got the win. Jonquel Jones with 31, but fouled out. She looked exhausted. Still no Vandersloot(mom passed away). No Betnijah, swollen knee, did not dress. If she doesn't play it will be brutal with all the games they have coming up.
Final, Lib 93, Sparks 83.

Quite the show as expected in Chicago vs. Indiana. Really exciting actually. Angel Reese imo obnoxious as usual but will be quite the player. 25pts, and 16 boards. Fellow Sky center Cardosa with 16 pts, 10 boards. If T-spoon can keep those two grounded....
Caitlin Clark played all 40 so Erica only played 15. CC with17 points, and13 assists for Indiana.

The Caitlin vs Angel scenario, pushed by the media, when the Fever plays the Sky is
drawing more interest to the WNBA from basketball fans that ignored the women's game before and helping all the other teams increase their fanbases as well.
I sort of compare the hype being given the Clark -Reese match ups like when Bird's Celts played Magic's Lakers when they came into the NBA together
