Seeing what a good OC did for Nova, do you think Laviano and perhaps Rettig and Dare would have stayed with the program if RU ends up with a top rated OC?

Kind of doubt it, but who knows? Seems like there are 2-3 guys in front of them here no matter what.

Ash is reported to have made it clear to the recruits that the offensive scheme is NOT going to change - not going back to Pro-Set .
So it is unlikely that a different face /voice would have changed their view about how likely it would be that they would see the field on game day.

I think Ash has made it pretty clear that come hell or high water he's gonna run a spread offensive scheme, so those guys have no place in his plans.

There is a scholarship limit. You can't just collect QBs because maybe someday the other 4 will get hurt at the same time.

I really hope all three of these guys succeed. But Lewis is our future and those three saw the writing on the wall. I don't think transferring had anything to do with Mehringer.

And I still subscribe to the theory that most coaches would have Charles Manson in at QB if they thought it could help them win.

Nova's success likely had as much to do with the fact that he was a fourth-year starter as it did with the OC who tutored him to an 8-win season in the Big Ten.

Laviano, Rettig and Dare? None of these guys are well suited to the offense Ash intends to implement in Piscataway, no matter who's calling the offensive plays.

Gio's the prohibitive favorite to start. Odin is presumably nipping at his heels. Lewis is an Ash recruit. Two of the transfers are guys would be going from former starter to fourth on the depth chart. Couldn't see any of them staying other than for the pure rubbernecking aspect of it.

None of the young men who left fit the system Ash is trying to install. I think they would be leaving regardless.

RU basically saying that the QBs left because they didn't like Mehringer? Mehringer is considered a phenom.

As Bob Wenzel once said in an executive committee meeting (I guess in defense of why he couldn't recruit players in the Atlantic-10)- "Players want exposure. (then he was referring to tv)."

I guess most qbs and players feel they are 1st team and should be starting. The shipped had sailed on the three and some here very accurately predicted the transfers within days of when they happened.

8-5 in the first year of Big Ten play, including a 3-5 conference records, along with the following stat line:

187-327, 57.2%, 2851 yards, 22 TD's, 12 INT's

The evident playmakers at wide receiver helped Nova considerably that year.

Yeah, they just don't have the quickness and speed to be effective in the new offense

Nova is like Tom Brady compared to Chris Laviano. Nova and Teel were basically the same player with a slight edge to Teel.
