Wrestling coach begs FB fans to give Yankee Stadium "wrestling thing a chance"

Army fans hate going to YankSta too - but they have to keep going because AD loves it. When applying for his next job 8 states away he'll get to show "Yankee Stadium" on his resume and the rubes will think its a big deal. Coaches can like it too since they can tell recruits they might play there. I don't even know if ticket sales matter since they are often giving tickets away at the end.

Army does NOT require that Season Ticket Holders to buy the game at Yankee Baseball Stadium as part of their season renewal. It is optional since it is not what they signed up for as Season Ticket Holders and is Optional. Which is what it should be.

And the Army AD and Army fans loved Yankee Stadium so much they moved the 2015 scheduled game against Rutgers from the Bronx to West Point. LMAO. Get your shat straight

Maybe this should be a separate thread but I think we are really going to regret not having Maryland at home.

This is a game we can win and our students and crowd do get loud and the team has admitted that really gets them up.
There will be a lousy crowd at YS and there will be no home field advantage at all and that can make a difference in a close game.

I will be going to both the match and the game and will be bitching the whole time.

Im sorry. You aren't allowed to bitch. Shut your mouth. Your only reason for your existence is to support the team blindly. Kiss Hobbs ring and bow if you happen to run into him. [winking]

Somebody posted earlier asking if you would go to Bronx if we beat purdue and play tough against MI. Well, that might get me to go despite the inconvenience and extra cost and lack of tailgate though I still would not go in early for wrestling.

I am waiting for the game time and the weather report and the team's performance in the next couple weeks before I decide whether to go to yanx stadium. None of these things matter to me or my group when it comes to actual home games. But they will all be considered for this very lame location.

And I happen to agree with those who belive we should keep complaining here and elsewhere. Otherwise, there is a chance this happens again

Just shows what a mistake this was. Having the wrestling coach publicly admit that this is wrong but begs us to come out anyway.
Hobbs screwed two sports here.
He did it was different, didn't say it was a mistake

Unfortunately if people go Hobbs will look in the stands and say look they showed up anyway despite the complaining and might think about doing it again.

If few show up Hobbs will say wow they were serious about this and lets not do this mess again.

Full seats sends one message while empty seats sends another...

In my theater. 3,000 miles away. If I could take a train to or the game was in Dodger Stadium, I'd simply go.

Where are you sitting?

Can't be NYC's team and get outnumbered by a school that's 3+ hours away. End of story.

My shat is fine. I never said Army "required" season ticket holders to buy Yankee game.

Most years Army sells six homes games as part of its season ticket package. In the Yankee years they only had five games. Even if fans didn't go to YS they were deprived of 6 home games and left with 5 - fans didn't like it. Given chance for 6 home games at USMA and 5+1 the choice is a no-brainer - even for you. When the RU/Army game was moved it wasn't to Rutgers

First, there is pretty much no way that Rutgers fans will be outnumbered by Maryland fans. Even if half the Rutgers season ticket holders don't show up, we'll outnumber Maryland fans 3:1.

Second, we are not New York City's team. We are the New York City Market's team. Plus, being the region's team has nothing to do with the undesirability of playing in a baseball stadium when our home football stadium sits idle a few dozen miles away.

Only the Yankees and Rangers are NYC's team.

That said Maryland has the worst football fan base in the Big10. If only the RU diehards go that don't care about the Yankee Stadium sightlines, RU will still outnumber th Terp fans about 10-1

Plus Maryland Wrestling has virtually no fan base. zero. Worst team by a mile in the BIG10.

If we want to be NYC's team, fans go to Yankee stadium. It's that simple.

who wants to be NYC's team...we are NJ's team. We are the closest university playing major football to NYC but that does not make us NYC's team in such a fragmented market that is not a college football crazy town

I love all these people imploring people to go and have no intentions of going themselves. And has no experince of how bad it is to watch a football game at Yankee Stadium.
You haven't a clue what you are talking about.

I understand people not wanting to go. Give your tickets away. Let someone who wants the experience have it. You guys love to bitch just to bitch. I do rated my tickets to an auction for kids with cancer. They went for $1000. BTW, story comes out today B1G gonna give us 25 million next year. Maybe we bit the bullet as part of the renogotiation.

Wow. You are such a loyal fan! Do you have long arms to pat yourself on the back??
Maybe we should give you a participation award!!
All season ticketholders whether they go or not paid exactly the same for tickets to this game as you did. Most of the money you spend at YS will go to the Yankees. Please stop with the your high and mighty "I support the team" crap.

Thanks for the backhanded compliment. Thankfully, I don't care what you or anyone else think of me, and I take pride in being a loyal fan. There are thousands just like me Who, whether monetarily or through time and effort do things behind the scenes, that go above and beyond their parking donation in someway to make Rutgers Athletics Better.

You people call yourself diehard fans then bitch and moan about everything Rutgers does Good and Bad.
Last I checked, you are not a fan of the stadium, or the tailgate, YOU ARE A FAN OF RUTGERS FOOTBALL and the players on the field or court of battle.

Pro mentality doesn't work with college football. Strong Fan Support helps Recruiting, Recruiting helps Teams, Better Teams Better Results, Better Results more money, More money nicer things.

When you read these boards, you would think our fanbase is a bunch of Whiny Bitches clinging to the late 2000's. Some fan bases already think this, and I'm beginning to agree with them.

You keep bitching, I'll keep supporting.
Anytime. Anyplace.

This, exactly this. Columbia, Fordham, or any other school located in the five boroughs can claim to be the 'City' team, if they wish. Rutgers can be the metro region's team (actually, it is already as they've pretty much proven) simply by carrying the NJ counties contained in the DMA. Rutgers and Army are the only FBS teams located in the DMA, with Rutgers being the only P5. Obviously, every home game at HPSS is played within the DMA. Lest we forget the primary reason Delany invited Rutgers to the B1G.

Attendance at a single game being played in the City isn't going to change those baseline facts. Though poor attendance may reflect negatively on the fanbase to the extent that it's a relatively local game, yet has created disinterest among a good portion of STH and others based on multiple factors that have been hashed out to death on here.

Gottta day when you put it like that it does come across as a, “Thank you, sir! May I have another?!” type of thing. LOL

I think you’re very wrong on the whiny bitches thing. Now if you said “stupid idiots” instead, I’d agree with you on what other fan bases think of us.

Because that is exactly what your other fan bases thought when this thing was announced....

“They’re playing a HOME conference game where? That is so Rutgers! What a bunch of maroons! LOL”
