Penn St will crush Iowa tonight... But not having Cortez could hurt if they face Ok St in NWCA's

I agree, think Penn St wins 6 or 7 match ups and gets bonus points from Nolf, Retherford and maybe Nickals and Nevills.
Penn St wins by about 10

PS- IMart vs Massa tonight to watch on your other device !

lol, awesome night for college wrestling. Finished my first beer (Lagunitas IPA) starting my first real cocktail (salted caramel vodka martini) and probably will have one or 2 more by the end of Pen St /Iowa.

If the tone of my posts change a bit.... you've been warned, lol

So the big news from Skull Session. Coach Goodale says we are absolutely fully funded for OOS scholarships.

Since when? I get a feeling this was the case for at least a year. Now, there's no excuse to not able to recruit the blue chippers.

For any of you crazy HS fans, Phillipsburg wrestles Easton tonight at 7pm , at the new P'burg gym. Free video stream w great commentary. P'burg has a 220 pounder, Robert Melise, who is terrific, will contend for a State Title again this year. Will probably wrestle 285 in college, not sure who is recruiting him. Here is the link to the match;this site provides free video and commentary for all Pburg home matches.

If that's the case, RU needs to start recruiting PA hard. Go after the kids PSU slighted, so they'd come in with a chip on their shoulder.

So boom refers to the music he's playing at practice next year? Give me more than that!

If anyone is interested...Lehigh is currently wrestling Cornell right now. Lehigh is up 13-3 after 149 with TFs from Cruz and Gartner.

Sellout crowd of 2300! 10-0 Pburg so far.

Pburg wins 40-27. Melise bumps up to 285 and pins a good Easton Heavyweight.

Big 10 Wrestling Schedule today (all times eastern) :

Noon- Purdue at Rutgers, BTN+

Noon- Northern Illinois at Illinois

1pm- Ohio St at Maryland (Good Counsel HS)

1pm- Michigan St at Clarion (Pa)

2pm- Minnesota at Indiana, BTN+

3pm- Michigan at Northwestern BTN TV

I definitely would be interested in the Michigan match as they are our next opponent. With them RSing several of their best wrestlers a sure loss at the beginning of the season became a toss up IMO.

Bill/Josh/whoever, can you ask Correnti his thoughts about his year has gone so far with the 30 pound weight loss, the adjustment to college wrestling, etc? With all of the troubles we've had with guys trying to cut weight (Dipp, Giraldo, etc), it'd be interesting to hear his perspective. He's had a really nice change in results since some bumps early on.

At 3pm (pretty soon) Michigan vs Northwestern is on BTN TV (and btn2go). I'll tune in just to see #2 Logan Massa vs 3x NJ State Champ Johnny Sebastian. Sebastian won his last NJ title at 182, now wrestling 165, plus he's not ranked anymore. His career hasn't turned out the way many thought it might. He took a RS year his 1st year to let a bad shoulder recover. Still time I guess. I think Massa, a freshman, will Major him

Freshman Logan Massa Tech Falls Johnny Sebastian. Another NJ multi year state champ is at NW, 285 Chakonis , both pretty much saw their college careers stall when they chose Northwestern, although Chakonis now out w an injury, wasn't doing much before going out.
They have a new coach, very young, w a very young staff. Complete re build job I guess.

Correnti is doing very well and has adjusted to the weight loss and college wrestling. He is going to be a good one and I think will wrestle 285 next year and will be fine at that weight. Mulligan will have filled in his boday at 197.. Paetzell at 125, Del ar 133, Ash at 141, Giraldo, Dip, Eluca or Mike Van Brill at 149, Lewis at 157, Grello, Van Brill or Scott at 165, Pagano at 174, Gravina at 184. Not bad.

Wonder if both have regrets leaving NJ for NW in terms of wrestling career. Can't blame either for taking the NW education though at all.

Johnny Sebastian has been constantly injured .I think some of his problems go back to how often he was wrestling at different weight classes in high School. Chakonis doesn't seem to have the work ethic needed for the Big Ten. I don't blame Northwestern for that, we've had our own share of talent that just didn't want it, or was injured.

PSU flattened OSU 32-12 on the road. Simply amazing how much distance there is between the No. 1 team and the No. 4 team. Meanwhile Indiana is beating Maryland 13-9 after the 165 match.

OSU disappointed the college wrestling fans by holding out Bo Jordan vs Mark Hall...chicken crap move that continues to hurt the college dual season.

Kyle Sndyer toyed with Nick Nevills at 285, Noboby will come within 10 points of Snyder at the NCAAs or Big 10s. Different level of skill and quickness.

Wonder if Goodale goes with Pagano or Bak for 174 vs Indy. Pagano lost to the Indy starter Skatzka at Midlands and I believe Bak beat him last year.

Interesting question, Coach G's history, if remembering correctly, which on Friday nights is a toss up at best, lol, IS THAT he does not hold anyone back, or try to protect a friggen seed like we saw OSU do tonight or TNT do last week. Just hurts the regular college dual season. Our RU program seems to be 100 per cent gung ho for the regular season, unlike some other, more established programs. Makes me respect Coach G and our program more and more.

And if there is one thing we've learned about Goodale this season, its that he's not afraid to look big picture for the future. Pagano is the odds on favorite to start at 174 next year, and with a 21-7 record, Goodale might hitch his wagon to Pagano the rest of the way as his resume is more impressive as of now than Bak's and more likely to make NCAAs.
