Zach Allen TCU transfer

If the coaches think we need him, then hope we get him. Remember, fans want at least 5-6 wins but our QB might not get us there.

Ok I'm listening

If nothing else, nice to see the new pipeline toTexas.

Thoughts

RU has to see him work out a lot with his lack of playing and game film.... Really nothing to go by in college

I find it a bit disheartening that we seem to be scrambling around for a Qb that can play immediately, the staff not feeling secure with what we have right now ....

Or, they are just following every lead for any prospect, this we can hope.

Do you feel secure with what we have now?

We have 2 QBs who can't run and are just average throwing the ball. Would not be surprised if this kid came in and ran the offense better. Would at least give some time to get Oden ready.

Meh. His passing average is 8.5 yards per completion. We already have a QB who can throw short passes.

He have a QB who can "float" short passes out to his RB's who immediately get crushed by the opposing defense as a result.

yup Zach was going to early enroll into SU to play in Marrone/Hackett system but they left right when he was suppose to enroll. TCU came in late while SU were deciding on a coach and OC. Zach decided to enroll into TCU as a result. He hasn't played a lot. Actually played WR at TCU this past year.

I don't see any evidence of "scrambling". Seems like they are just exploring possibilities and listening to see if someone is better and can help win. Rather have that than complacency.

Why is it so difficult for RU to find QBs???? For the past several years, schools like Houston, Cinn, and Wash State have had them! Our last good QB was Mike Teel at the end of his time here. And that is now ancient history!!!!!!!

And we have a quarterback who consistently throws passes at the ground.

Laviano can run pretty well, but is just an average thrower, at best. Rettig is an average runner who has a serious gun for an arm (but we don't have enough to go on to see how he'd do in real games).

which corresponds with the last part of my rambling, incoherent post...

not seeing practices, I had some sort of hope that things might have been improving greatly.....

According to nj.com he's in the midst of a 2-day official visit. Looks promising.

On a related note does anyone know how Dare has looked? Whenever anyone talks about the QB competition they mention Laviano, Rettig, Gio, and now Oden and leave out Dare.

Savage had a pretty good Frosh year but things between him and RU went south. Nova was ok despite the revolving door at OC. He had some great games. He had some stinkers. For all the good Schiano did, recruiting and developing QB's during his time was not one of them. Flood was well, Flood.

During their time both brought in 4* transfers. Natale didn't pan out and it doesn't seem Rettig will. This is why I'm not putting much into another transfer way down in the depth chart at his old school.

Always good to have more competition and a guy who is a dual threat in our new system.

To those of you who continue to bash all of our QB's, you are making it very clear that you know too little about the game and just blame the QB and HC. Keep it up. The more you repeat yourselves the lower your IQ rating dips.
