Rutgers wrestling head coach Scott Goodale on John Poznanksi's future:

Eh I don’t agree w this take, every big name program will have bluechippers that fail/regress doesn’t work for w.e reason.. yet when it does happen we don’t say it’s their fault.. was it Ohio state’s fault Camp didn’t work out?? Even recently they had Decatur, who was a top p4p recruit didn’t work out… and even Bouzakis hasn’t lived up to his expectations but no one blames Ohio state..

I do put it on staff tho to find the “right recruits”. Finding the right guys that wanna keep improving and has the right mindset…. Finding the hidden gems and not overpaying for guys that won’t work and how they fit in the roster..

I do agree with ur point tho that we do seem to have a lot of guys that peaked their freshman season, poz, Turley,Soldano, White, to name a few but we probably have same amount that continued to get better n peak their sr year.

So much of this sport is mental.. I do think having a good sports psychologist could be a good investment…
Turley was a sophomore when he AA'ed. White wrestled nobody in open tournaments during his redshirt freshman year.

Show me the 2 universities where legit success didn’t happen first.
I’ve asked this many times in multiple threads and nobody has ever responded with 1.
University has to go first. I don’t make the rules or define human nature. I’m just reporting it as it is.
Did you miss Indiana & SMU in football this year? Someone else just named two basketball programs in an earlier response.

What you’re missing or in denial about is the dynamics have changed. Again, you can wait for organic growth and go to the grave never seeing it or the fan base can make it happen.

Or change your outlook and not expect highly competitive teams in the future and celebrate minor bowl games, finishing in the middle of the B1G standing last for basketball and being out more often than in when March rolls around, etc.

Losing Cliff cost us the NCAA Tournament

The problem is we need to get better at D. Do you disagree that anything close to 115th best isn’t going to cut it? This year, perhaps we could’ve targeting Mag / Caleb types from the portal and compensated for the lack of post presence. We can’t do that next year otherwise our offense will be as bad as it was last season with worse defense because we won’t have a Cliff. You yourself acknowledged we won’t be able to afford players that excel at everything. We will have to prioritize.

It’s possible to win with a center who defends well but only really scores on put backs. Very few teams outside of the top 75 on D are successful in the BIG and the ones that are almost always have top 25 offenses which is highly unlikely next season.
How to you have a father who was an outstanding college player and go through 4 years of high school, and know next to nothing about defense. His high school must have been awful.

This is getting ridiculous,--- let's make the naysayers happy---give up D1 basketball,- wouldn't that be wonderful. Also, might.as well close Rutgers University, the state would save tons. Hey close down the public hospitals, more savings. And as for Seton Hall, fans bitching about taxes, close down any government support to the diocese of Newark and it's schools. All bullshyt by those with heads up their asses.
