Corey Hetherman to Miami as DC

The LB play fell way off from last year and contributed a lot to the poor defensive showing in addition to injuries. The loss of Deon Jennings who was an excellent LB for RU was a major factor. He never was out of position and a sure tackler in space. Mo Toure’s injury was a big blow. The younger LBs this year seemed to be in over their heads at times. Out of position and in wrong gaps. Coverage of RBs out of the backfield was poor. I’m sure Heatherman’s absence played a role.
I would say losing Toure was a catastrophic blow, especially when you see how well he played against Miami. This was compounded by Powell’s injury, as he seemed to be hindered significantly, and never was 100%. Hetherman was lucky that be was coaching two all conference caliber LBs.

In their stead #4, #28, and #2 struggled mightily. This is where the biggest problems were. Would they have played better if Hetherman were here? Doug seems to think so, but I struggle with this, and am not sure.

Brad Wachtel: “Might be time to pull the plug”

Numbers don’t show Geo regressing, though he did flatten out.

You can never really know if a player reached their potential but Geo definitely overachieved relative to what we was ranked as a recruit.
He got better in areas that are not seen on a scoresheet. The average fan can’t appreciate a lot of what happens in a game. He was also asked to do more and became a focus of other teams. Additionally guys get dinged up etc. looking at the stat line doesn’t really show anything. Geo got better every year imo.

Rutgers Baseball is expecting big things from Peyton Bonds, a Campbell transfer who is the nephew of Barry Bonds

If Coach Owens is willing to let Straw talk to players and have a minor role in player development.
His evolution as a person would be an amazing asset.
You couldn’t have a better influence!
And you couldn’t have a better guy to teach an old style short swing power stroke.
He came to the Ocean City Tabernacle to speak a summer or two ago and he was great. Would be a great influence on the team and a great asset to have around the program

OT: College Football Playoffs Semifinal Games 1/9-1/10 Thurs-Fri

ND just lost another starter, their LT. Oy vey. They have guys dropping like flies.
We lost him in the 2nd QTR. We played the remainder of the game with a LT who had played 60 snaps all season and the 2nd and 3rd qtr with a RG who as a Frosh had never taken an offensive snap for us.

Pretty incredible effort by those 2 against guys like Penn State.

Here's your #1 NBA 2025 draft pick

Give us your scouting report on Flagg and why it differs from NBA scouts and experts, not some media whore looking for controversy.
Answer: expert opinions differ from homer opinions. After every Rutgers recruit commits you see the same elated, orgasmic reactions here. Almost all of these same recruits later sucked and left, to be replaced by new players who are even worse (Martini, Derkack, Hayes).

GAME 16 PURDUE: I don't care anymore

Likely two years in a row of almost complete roster turnover and 3 years of missing the tournament. No real reason for hope beyond blind faith going forward. What exactly do you consider gutting the program and how far away do you see us being from that?

Im not in the prediction game - no clue how far away we are. But our program right now is not gutted. That’s all I’m saying.

Here's your #1 NBA 2025 draft pick

Irrelevant stat line....Flagg is going to be 1st and in the long line of Top Picks who bust.....As long Ace and Dylan go in the Top 3 to 5, they're more than fine. Flagg doesn't have the upside of Ace or Dylan.
