RAPID REACTION - Michigan

1. Michigan did a fantastic job taking Ace Bailey out of the game. Denied the ball, swarmed him with double team when he got the ball, and had tall guys guarding him to make his shooting more difficult. Second Saturday in a row against a team from Michigan that Ace struggled. 4-17 last week, and 3-15 (0-7) this week. Game over. We just can’t win with neither of our superstars playing well.

2. The rest of the team wasn’t much better. Overall we shot 22-67 overall (32.8%), and 10-36 from three (27.8%). Michigan played a subpar game and was ripe for an upset, but we just couldn’t hit shots. Every time we cut the lead to 3 or 4, we would miss and Michigan would push back up to 6 or 7. Just could never get over the hump.

3. Michigan had 17 TOs and gave up 15 offensive rebounds, giving Rutgers many more possessions, and a whopping 21 more shots. But whereas we shot 22-67, Michigan was an efficient 22-46 (7-20) and hit 15-21 FTs. This was a workmanlike road win for the more talented team.

4. Humongous shout out to Jamichael Davis for a career day, leading Rutgers with 20 points on 8-14 FGs, including an impressive 4-7 from 3-pt range. He added 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists, and another 0 TO game. He also ran the offense well. I actually feel more confident in his ability to quarterback our offense, way more than JWill.

5. For anybody holding out a faint hope of a magical February run, this loss puts a stake in those hopes. We’re done from an NCAA at-large standpoint. Period. The goal now is to try and make a mini run to finish 9th in league, so we can get a single bye and hope for a magical BTT run.

6. But this all depends on a somewhat healthy Dylan Harper, and that’s a big question mark. If he’s out for much longer, or not effective upon his return, then we’re just playing out the string and maybe playing spoiler.

OT: New ACC Deal To Reward Clemson and FSU?

You should - it's really not that difficult to do
Around late summer/early fall, what's happening (more $$ per year based off different metrics, shorter GOR and less buyout $$) is what I said would likely happen, based on the new info I received

I also said a settlement would be reached
This right here is the textbook definition of the term "settlement"

Addionally, the SEC / B1G not wanting FSU is beyond laughable
Think logically, not with emotion, as this is all about $$
Not feelings, not safe spaces... just $$

Again, as I've stated, the 120 million (or 150, whichever # is correct) buyout money has already been raised
If that was the set amount w/no GOR, FSU would be out tomorrow

Fact of the matter is what FSU is getting from the ACC/ESPN is exactly what Michael Alford proposed at the ACC meetings in Almeia Island last year. The ACC scoffed at the idea, leading to lawsuits by all parties.

Fast forward to now, and all indications are FSU will be getting exactly (or very close to it) what FSU originally requested
A lot of time, money and energy was wasted on attorneys to get to this point, but if the ACC/ESPN would have played ball of the jump, things wouldn't have gotten nearly this squirrely

You're correct this will suffice in the short term, but we'll be back to square one in a few years as the $$ gap will be too much. Fortunately, due to the shorter GOR (reduced from 2036 to 2031), it'll take a lot less $ to get out at that time

Furthermore, though I appreciate the gesture, I won't be accepting any congratulations as I'm simply going on what I've heard from reputable sources, it's not information I dug up on my own or was able to procure with them
FSU is a fine institution with great athletics but they are not a take for either the BIG or SEC because of the many stated reasons. For these reasons and the fact that the ESPN GOR signed by all ACC schools, including FSU, was not going anywhere and remaining in force. FSU was not paying $120MM to join the B12, P12 or MWC conference. FSU simply has no better options than to pipe down and play nice with the ACC in exchange for a few dollars more.

Exactly, you can’t expect Ace to win every game. We cut it 46-44 and we couldn’t get a stop to save our life. If we had any defensive presence we would have actually gotten the stops we needed
Ace couldnt hit the ocean so instead of having 6'10 guy that can jump thru the roof standing outside arc....why not take JD, jK & JW drive to basket, draw defender & have AB cut to hoop for easy dunk/layup instead of hoisting 3's

NOT 1 player cuts to hoop w/o ball. We are 5 out that stay out.

Overall defense, maybe not. But zero timely defensive stops. It’s easy to see that 66 and say defense wasn’t the problem. Shooting clearly sucked. But my point is, we got zero timeline stops when we needed them. It was 46-44, and Michigan scored with ease
Agreed, it seemed like late Michigan moved the ball well and ran sets to take advantage on the inside. It worked as it felt like we were not getting stops in last 5 minutes like we were earlier in the game. Did not get stops late which is what you need to win a game.

I guess you didn’t watch the game….

We had stops and steals on many occasions. Couldn’t convert

True, although we did get a stop there and Ace missed a wide open three that would have given us the lead.
Lol exactly.
