Izzo Pullover

@SF88 has a classic story of when Schiano came back And part of his deal was the helicopter. Someone gave it a nickname & Steve-O designed some shirts with the helicopter coming in for a landing, the Block R on the side of the helicopter, sideways because the helicopter was, you know, coming in for the landing.
Rutgers wouldn't approve the shirt until the R was straight. So the shirts were produced with a nose in landing helicopter & a straight up R

What are the odds our first game gets moved to Thursday/Friday night?

I hope we open every season with a Friday (and occasionally Thursday) night home game before Labor Day weekend.
It makes sense on many levels.

TV window availability on BTN; nice evening temps as opposed to baking in the hot sun during the game; long afternoon tailgating to kick off the season; less interference with holiday weekend travel plans; etc.
It's what I said all along when apparently the B1G was going to make this a mandatory thing...volunteer for it.
But I would prefer 8 pm to 6pm kickoff
Exactly. More important for the Thursday (which I don't like anyway) but the 8 is still better than the 6.

Program issues start with recruting and player renention …..

Let’s just get simple

1.) we get to the ncaa tournament …(yes covid.cancelled it) ….amd the follow up after cliff signing we sign these three classes

Class of 2021-Jones and miller
Class of 2022-sinpson., wolfolk and chol
Class of 2023-Griftths ans davis

2.) Everyone gets an extra covid year . We make the ncaa tournment and should have beaten the 2 seed and made the sweet 16. We had a chance to run it back with the ENTIREteam. The entire team . Shoukd have come in the preseason ranked 15. Instead , we start a trend that only Ron , geo and Caleb stick around and we lose key pieces yesr after year to the portal

After 2020-2021…lose Jacob young , Myles Johnson , and Montez Mathis

2021-2022….we didn’t lose anyone , but we do convince Caleb to return….but we could not convince Ron to stay either (and to be fair , at the time is was the Right move for Ron based on where things were…but if this situation happens 2 years later…he either stays at RU for a Big NIL pay day, or goes somewhere else for A big pay day …..it’s not like we actually set the trend and made it happen when the opportunity presented itself)

2023-2023…..we lose Spenser and Mulchay

2023-2024…..we lose cliff

This is reality….we didn’t recruit . And we didn’t retain our best pieces

Now …we sign the class of 2024, and we have a solid follow up class of 2025.. We look very in the game for the class of 2026. Did we solve our recruting issues ? Do we retain Sommervile , grant and Dortch and stsrt a rebuild areoind recruting , player development …and this. requires retention and the backing to do so????

Make no mistake about it. This year with Dylan and ace was damaged because we didn’t recruit the last three years to have progrsm, mature upperclassman around then to share the load….amd what pieces could have been here …we didn’t retain

if you don’t think a cliff and a proper attituded mag as 5th year guys could have helped on the boards and defensively ….(and while we don’t know the story on mag, the issues had lack of NIL origins as part of the issues )……with a frosh front court …..especially with what we replaced them with up front in the portal……and thsr wirh both of them having sone serious offensive limitations , these guys really could have been a major factor.

I just Know what we have next to the frosh….is inadquwte and 10-10 says it all. The frosh don’t have anyone to learn from ….and are being asked to carry a real load

One that the above rant lays it out ……..

Pikell Just Sucks

You can absolutely keep teams together over multiple yesrs and supplement transfers in to plug holes where needed. There are also guys that buy into the defense mentality. Grant, Sommmerville, Dortch it looks like. Pike needs to recruit guys thay fit his system. Mid 4 stars, high 3 star type guys - even in portal era. Last years team a good example of this. If Mag doesnt go down its probably a different season. We need to get back to dragging teams into the mud and playing defense - and win by playing the grossest basketball possible. Even with the two stars gone id bet this team is better from that standpoint alone.

Secondly, Pike got away from that team Ethos this year. He had an opportunity to have two ferraris for one year in a program built on Ford F150s. No coach would Balk at that opportunity but it is preposterously outside Pikes relm that he didnt know what to do with them. Great year for the brand, horrible year for the program.

Next year we get back to the program - playing Muckball and dragging teams into the mud

We're 3-1 in the B1G with a healthy Harper (and 2-0 with a healthy Harper and Grant playing). Just sayin'.

I think many are in my position on this and I didn't say anything that wasn't true with regard to our record with a healthy Harper. Also, I didn't say we were going to win the B1G tourney, but I do think we can win a few there and obviously, there's some small chance we could sweep it.
We will be lucky to finish above 500 for the season.

Hate to say it, but…

Derkack's 'big game' today made up for the 26 pts Martini and Grant combined for out in Nebraska. Dylan had 21 vs Nebraska.
Dercack had a great game and would never have happened if Dylan was healthy.

Dercack would not have gotten the time or nearly 75% of the shots he took if Dylan played 30 plus minutes.

So no a healthy Dylan would not have won the game today . Would Dylan have gone for 26? Maybe! But if he went for 26 Dercack doesn’t sniff double digits.

We're 3-1 in the B1G with a healthy Harper (and 2-0 with a healthy Harper and Grant playing). Just sayin'.

You are, by far, the most optimistic person on the outlook for remainder of season. This team isn't winning the Big Ten Tournament. Harper will likely be "banged up" rest of season, and there is probably some chance he doesn't even suit up again for RU. Even if he does, he's going to be rusty. And the other guys on this team like Martini, Acuff, JMike, JWill, Hayes...they have given literally zero reason for optimism....night in night out playing terrible ball. Plus with Ogbole done now we just lost a big body who was starting to grab boards.
What gives you the idea that there’s a chance he won’t play? That’s nuts!

RAPID REACTION — Michigan State

It’s pretty sad , frustrating and miserable that we aren’t even 2/3 way through what was supposed to be the most incredible Rutgers basketball season of our lifetimes and now I’m not even sure if I want to watch how this flame quietly burns out.
I agree, posted in another thread I wish the season was on a dvr recording and could just fast forward to the end to see how it ended.

Hate to say it, but…

RU prob would’ve shot a bit better from 3 if game was at RAC. Pro arenas often times have lower shooting percentages for college teams. Maybe a cou-of of Acuff or Martini good looks go down
Maybe Dercack who has not shot well all year, shots don’t go down.

We can go back and forth with all the excuses in the world. It wasn’t Dylan’s injury or the supporting cast who have been unwatchable all year.

It was a well coached team out playing a poorly coached team. Simple

Hate to say it, but…

It’s forgotten and just another loss. The jollies of a game at the Garden are worthless. The irony of this case being a show case was such a disaster. Dylan plays 14 minutes and Ace has arguably his worst game. Despite all this we lost by 7. It’s a win at the RAC!
What’s Pike’s record the last two years at the Rac vs the Big ten?

The venue had nothing to do with the loss. The bad team and bad coaching cost us the game.

GAME 20 MICHIGAN STATE: Overmatched

We are only playing to stay out of the bottom 3 in the conference at this point and then to die a quick and hopefully painless death in the conference tournament. Wish this season was already recorded on a DVR and I could just hit the fast forward button now to the last 4 minutes of our last regular season game against Minnesota to see if we even made the conference tournament. Also pretty pathetic that Rutgers and Minnesota could be battling to remain out of the bottom 3 in the conference in that last game of the season.

RU Deficit

They work with the SP and Homeland Security, which is good enough. Point is, everything is planned, they don't just arbitrarily set staffing levels.

The New Jersey State Police conducted a high-visibility security operation in the Rutgers University area on Thursday, ahead of the school’s homecoming game this weekend. The effort involved multiple units, including the Target Hardening Unit, Tactical Patrol Units from Troops “D” and “C,” the Outreach Unit, Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit, and the Mounted Unit.

While no specific threats have been identified, the Homeland Security Initiative is part of the state police’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of the community during large events. The operation is a proactive measure to create a secure environment for students, residents, and attendees.

Authorities reminded the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining safety.
Nothing wrong with this and it's what should be happening. Good move. But not who I was inferring.

I just find it interesting the same agency can do this for every Giant and Jet game (16 regular season and 4 preseason) with a more higher profile target, more people in attendance (~2x) but equal to or less over all manpower than a Rutgers game.

Of course safety is paramount, as it should always be, but to say Rutgers is more high profile than the above-mentioned MetLife, the US Tennis Open, NYE in Times Square, the NYC Marathon or even the equivalent is something.

The offense is frustrating. Again you see MSU constantly swinging the ball, players cutting, moving and screening. Our offense, too often players standing around and the ball sits or moves but very little players cutting or screening. Just moving the ball around the perimeter and someone hoisting a contested shot.
This. No cutting. No moving
No screening
NO TEAM.
