OT: New York Mets 2024-2025 Off Season Thread

Also- looking at the number closer TH averages 47 BB and 197 K over 162 games- that is insane Pete is 69 BB 157 K not great either but almost a .340 OBP vs a .320 OBP
TH may not even be as good in the OF as Pete is at 1B.

I don't believe Pete should get an average above $25 mil per if the deal is 4+ years but for us fans to keep trying to say that Pete is on the downside or we would rather have someone else- I have yet to see a single player on the market that is not already signed with us that really is that much better than he is. And- what he brings to the lineup and the character of them team as well.
I would rather have Pete than Bregman. But he could have been secure has he accepted the Mets offer a few years ago. It’s gotta be on our terms now.

Bassett / Bishop McCourt

Because they don’t have to play those games…we aren’t Iowa or PSU. Not to mention Iowa is paying in the neighborhood of $200K per year to top recruits
I get it. You weren't kidding from your previous post. It's really becoming a money game. It's a shame. It shouldn't be that way. What happened to honor and competition? I'll be honest with you if this kid is looking for the highest bidder,I really don't think we should invest in him. Throw what we can reasonably afford to do,and if that's not enough, then sayanara. But if this is all about" what you can do for me" and not about teamwork, then maybe we are better off without him. One good.
habit, we have as a program,is that we take under the radar wrestlers and turn them into all americans, ala Yara, Perotti,Shawver, Bulsak and DelVecchio. Great hs wrestlers, but certainly not blue chippers like Bassett.
