This season is not over, there is a lot still to play for

As I said - miracle territory

Again - not doom and gloom

simple obvious reality
There is some doom and gloom here.

Not people saying the season is effectively over. That part is obviously true barring a miracle as you say.

But people predicting all sorts of death and calamity over future seasons.

Freshman on the road......

Their top 2 scorers fouled out
They fouled out OR RUs players and talent fouled them out of the game. 27 to 16 fouls is about freshman making plays.

I think there's a pattern of downplaying wins, which is odd to me. If we were in an ACC, playing Stanford, California, Miami, Boston College or even some teams in the Big East like Butler, DePaul, Seton Hall or Georgetown, i would see the apathy being real.

Someone has to finish 16th, 17th or 18th in the B1G.....someone like South Carolina, who is winless in the SEC, will finish last. But I don't think fans understand how wide the gaps are growing between the SEC, then the B1G and Big 12, from the rest of "major CBB.

I feel fairly certain Washington is better than a lot of teams in the 8 to 10 range in other conferences. It's not an accident that there are so many teams in the 6 to 7 win range in the B1G now, because the talent and league is very competitive.

Doesn't make it easy. I'm just watching the games on a week to week basis.

Keep in mind, with Lathan Sommerville having literally no idea what he was doing in Octobee and Dylan Grant being another freshman, we played 40 minutes of high level basketball against what may actually be the best CBB of all time in Rick Pitino and played St Johns toe to toe.

So 2 things are either true or need to be looked at with 2025 reality.

A) St Johns is really not a Top 10 school ( they're ranked in the Top 10 this week) AND

B) The Big East is simply a watered down league with very few challenges on a weekly basis.

That means that if RU is 12th to 15th in the B1G and played St Johns without Lathan Sommerville knowing what he's doing and no Dylan Grant, that RU probably is in NCAA discussion if they're in the Big East.

And St Johns is nowhere near the Top 10, as such a poor shooting 3 point team, they're no better than Illinois or Oregon IMO today.

It doesn't mean RU has had the season we expected (losing to Princeton and Kennesaw with Dylan injury etc), but this notion that Washington wouldn't be ahead of Butler, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Depaul and possibly Providence in the Big East is crazy. Washington is easily as talented as half the Big East conference in 2025.....so is Minnesota and certainly RU as well.

RU has to meet the standards of recruiting and coaching in a Top 2 or 3 league of college sports. That is the reality of 2025. But to look at each league like the Big East and ACC as "Equal", is simply not the case.....

Freshman on the road......

We won because Harper was feeling himself against a bad team, and ONE of the supporting cast (JWill) had a good game.

Grant was ok and the predominant feeling on this board is the hope that he stays.

So by lumping the freshman stats together... Are you trying to argue that Lathan played well? I read your posts and often have no idea what the point is you're trying to make.

Yeah the frosh thing is a horrible take.

The bottom line is even your first statement isn’t true as a stand alone. The game ends in a loss if our pair of statistically poor long range shooters (J Will and Jordan were at 25% entering the game) don’t go a perfect 3-3 from three in regulation.

OT: Winter Storm Thursday 2/20: Very Likely Somewhere Between A Non-Event and a Minor Event (oof)

Imagine quibbling over a non event map and accusing me of the posting an outdated graphic while I posted the actual current map

You've been running around like a crazy person over snowshowers
Are you really going to deny that you're clueless with regard to how to post "current" graphics? We've covered numerous times how the NWS snowfall maps are "live" graphics that update at some point after the NWS changes the graphic. Right now your two posts on page 6, from Monday at 11:34 pm and last night at 6:40 pm, both show graphics showing they were "issued Feb 19th, 2025 at 9:46 pm," which means either you are able to post maps well into the future or I'm right.

And they'll both probably soon show the updated graphics from this morning. Every one of my NWS graphics still shows the original graphic from that time. Also, you did erroneously post the graphic from Tuesday night in your post last night, but now it shows the graphic from 9:46 pm last night in your post from 6:40 pm last night and any NWS graphic you've posted in the past now shows the most recent or a very recent snowfall map, like your post on the 2/6 storm also shows last night's NWS graphic.

It doesn't really matter much for this storm, but for a real storm with changing snowfall maps from the NWS it leads to misinformation and confusion. If you can't figure out how to post maps that don't change, you shouldn't post any maps at all from the NWS in these threads.

No. 11 Rutgers wrestling closed the regular season against Penn on Wednesday at Jersey Mike's Arena

Remembering that Brooks match and he was undefeated off an AA year. Could imagine the pressure he was putting on himself to then lose by MD. Then went on to some WTF losses and lackluster results. Love Poz and all he gave to us and our fans had "possible champion" label on him after freshman year. Wish he could have wrestled senior night as he deserves to go out 100%.
I don’t even think that label was unreasonable either. He was neck and neck with Keckeisen who became a national champ.

USA Today ranks the Big10 projected starting Rbs in 2025

Many sports reporters are big sports fans who happen to be terrible at math and research, despite detailed reliable figures being easily available on the the internet.

Too often, sports reporters parrot press releases and rumors, then don’t follow up when facts appear that prove the press releases and rumors were false.

I followed up with Thamel on this once but he never responded and two years later hasn’t issued a correction.

No. 11 Rutgers wrestling closed the regular season against Penn on Wednesday at Jersey Mike's Arena

It’s a sport where if you’re not 100% in then you’re 100% out. People point to the Brooks match years ago when Poz started to decline. Probably the realization that despite being a 4th place finisher and AA, the distance between that and 1st is insane.

At the end of the day he had a nice career and probably the best freshman season in Rutgers history. Hope he’s successful wherever he ends up after this.

Here’s how the season plays out…

There’s no “run” in this team. We might score 80+ points the rest of the way, but our defense is so bad that we can’t play consistently enough to win a bunch of games in a row. Our interior defense and pick and roll defense were just as horrid last night as they were in Vegas and against Princeton. Washington scored at will against us, and we were lucky that Osobor and Mason fouled out.

Auto renewal of season tickets

This season sucked @ss and I’ve attended the least amount of home games since I’ve had season tickets (6-7 years) since it’s has sucked so much @ss.

With that said I’ll most likely be renewing with the hopes of sliding down from my current seats (mid 200s) since so many people are dropping (I’ll believe it when I see it).

same...i think you'll see some 300s and maybe upper 200s pass but i wouldn't be surprised if damn near everyone in the 100s renews. and for the few that don't i'm guessing they will be given out to much bigger dogs than me...

This season is not over, there is a lot still to play for

There is a lot of basketball still to be played, I can't take all this gloom and doom. All of the larger team goals are still out there except winning the B1G regular season. Yes, I get it, nobody expected the record we have right now, but nonetheless, this team will always put arguably the two best players on the floor almost every game going forward. There is no reason why this team can't go on a nice little run right into the tournament. Not saying it is a lock or anything like that, just saying they have the opportunity, so as fans we should support them. We all know nothing makes a Rutgers fan happier than to say I told you so, but wouldn't it be nice to say I told you say on a positive, instead of the norm around here which tends to lean heavily negative.

Come on. There is not a lot to play for. Absent winning the Big10 tourney (EXTREMELY unlikely to say the least) the NCAAs are out

Most we can hope for is an interesting “run” in the Big10 tourney, beyond that is miracle territory at this point

That’s not doom and gloom that’s just 100% reality
