OT: Winter Storm Thursday 2/20: Very Likely Somewhere Between A Non-Event and a Minor Event (oof)

Hoping this is winter's last grasp
It's been misery and today is brutal as well
The only redeeming aspect is I was able to milk another Florida trip out of the whole thing
It has been cold and snowy from the perspective of having a ton of small snow events (13 events with measurable snow), but the odd thing is we're still behind the expected amount of snow for a typical winter despite Dec, Jan and Feb all being a decent amount colder than normal. Will have to ask one of the weather guys how often that has happened.

Pike Failed the Fans, Minimal Effort Towards NIL Raising Would’ve Made For a Special Season

Calapari has proven over and over again that lottery picks don’t guarantee you crap
That might be so but lottery picks gives coaches a decided talent advantage. How they meld those players with the rest of the roster will determine team success.Duke is having a terrific season with Flagg as the star player and so is Maryland with Queen. In Rutgers case Bailey and Harper are surrounded by players that lack the skillset to be successful in the B1G Ten.

What is most discouraging about this team, and there are many possibilities

You keep jumping on my semi-sarcastic replies to others lol.

I 100% agree with this post. Not only did Pike fail to put enough talent on the roster this season but he also put together a team that does not fit his coaching style at all which has compounded the issue.

It’s a pretty egregious error and at a pretty bad time. I think that is different than being exposed as a bad coach though.
In today’s college basketball game, roster construction is as important as in-game coaching. To that end, given the team Pike put together for this season it was a bad coaching job.

OT: Texas to no longer play a spring game, Steve Sarkisian confirms

Makes perfect sense to me. Nothing is accomplished from a coaching, decision making standpoint at a spring game. We can have a much more productive situational “scrimmage” without the distraction of fans in the stadium. If it is about getting better, situational preparation and minimizing injury I’m okay. As a fan I am all for giving up the opportunity to tailgate. The spring game is merely a meet and greet with some “fake football” thrown in. I would rather the team utilize that day as a real practice getting younger players involved.

Eh. It’s not as if we’ve generally brought in all these stud recruits in past years.

Not bringing in a rim protector was the biggest issue. I find it very hard to believe we can’t afford and/or convince one to come to Rutgers. Cliff and MJ left and joined teams where they played utility roles. You can’t tell me there aren’t utility guys on other teams like them who could’ve been brought in to play their role. If those guys had gone to their final destinations first they would not have had the same price tags associated because their stats would look much less enticing. Pike needs to do his homework this offseason. We need a bruiser. Give Pike that and his team will compete game in and out. I truly believe that. And guess what - if the cost of doing this is Lathan hitting the road it’s a price we must pay. We’re not going to win without a real 5. The style D Pike aims for just doesn’t allow for it. Folks who want Lathan to be our center need to convince Jay Wright to come coach. We don’t play that style and the odds of Pike suddenly having success in a way that he’s never had it before feels like poor odds to me. Just my opinion.

OT: Favorite Bingeable/ Weekly Show Right Now…

Is that just season 2? Haven’t seen that yet. I didn’t feel that in season 1. I enjoyed her character in season 1.

The Bear is the only show where incessant yelling was irritating to us.
Yelling? Apparently you've never worked in a restaurant. Or grew up around Italians.... That show marries both "cultures." LOL...

Full disclosure: worked a good bit as bartender (restaurant/lounge) and am an Italian-American. 🙃

OT: Nations Face-Off 2025

Only got to see the OT and highlights since it was poker night, but very happy for Canada and McDavid, the best player in the world and the most fun to watch. I root for the US in most sports, but always root for Canada in hockey - it's their game and especially the last few decades it's been sad to see no Canadian teams winning the Stanley Cup.
I guess you will be rooting for England in the World Cup then?

OT: Nations Face-Off 2025

Great game...so hard to beat a team 2 times in a short series. Both teams should be proud. That being said Matthews just comes up small in big moments. I don't know if he wasn't feeling well but he seemed like a mope the whole tournament. Hughes just needs to stay on his feet.

Looking forward to the Olympics!
It was a great game and great addition to the NHL schedule.
