OSU getting blown out

There's no sickness, OSU played a high level games against Michigan Sunday and fell short....this was just a flat, let-down game that happens after big emotional games against top opponents where teams expend a lot of energy.

Nebraska rallies from 20+ down last Sunday vs Northwestern, next game, flat and out of gas vs Penn State, Nebraska gets blown out.

Illinois plays a national TV game against Sparty Saturday night and has Duke at MSG this Saturday night.....in between is a game at Wisconsin.......while Wisconsin is having a great season, they don't bring the cache as Duke this Saturday or Sparty last Saturday night....Illinois gets blown out by 21 vs Wisconsin.

For this Ohio State/Northwestern game or anyone in the area of the bottom 3, it is now a more urgent matter for teams to avoid the bottom 3 and there's extra motivation for these schools. NW could have just experimented with new lineups and played a bunch of freshman or others, but they stayed on course and competed to win.

Minnesota getting organized and sweeping the LA schools on the road, suddenly makes their next 2 games against PSU and NW, as 2 games that have a sense or urgency. Someone has to win and avoid 15th or 17th.

People who don't understand wear and tear of a real conference, just point to the NCAA tournament as which conference is the best, which doesn't take into account other leagues without this "you have to qualify for the conference tournament ", as a factor. The B1G has is right and it will effect seeding in the NCAAs, because more teams will have 12 to 14 losses and other leagues will get to see if coasting through the regular season helps them or not.

No. 11 Rutgers wrestling closed the regular season against Penn on Wednesday at Jersey Mike's Arena

When I ran road races competitively back a few moons ago, I'd have a subpar race but typically finish at the top ar near in my age group on a day when the competition wasn't great I'd lament and tell my running mentor about my pedestrian success. His response was 'you beat whoever showed up. Plenty of people were home doing nothing. You beat them all." That rings in my ear to this day. Pos and Turley are All Americans.
Absolutely. Doesn’t matter who they faced, they don’t control the bracket. You wrestle who is in front of you.

What is most discouraging about this team, and there are many possibilities

From the 24/7 2024 Transfer ratings

Derkack -162
Acuff - 348
Martini -429
Hayes - didn't make the top 480

That is discouraging !

Wow - I had no idea they were all THAT low!!!

Acuff rating is surprising just considering his scoring

Also interesting how the ratings have correlated to their relative contribution to the team and likely relative to all transfers (eg dercack only one that has made a marginally-decent contribution- what you might expect the #162 rated transfer to do)

Exposed as what? The guy who put mid-major talent around two lottery picks?

Eh. It’s not as if we’ve generally brought in all these stud recruits in past years.

Not bringing in a rim protector was the biggest issue. I find it very hard to believe we can’t afford and/or convince one to come to Rutgers. Cliff and MJ left and joined teams where they played utility roles. You can’t tell me there aren’t utility guys on other teams like them who could’ve been brought in to play their role. If those guys had gone to their final destinations first they would not have had the same price tags associated because their stats would look much less enticing. Pike needs to do his homework this offseason. We need a bruiser. Give Pike that and his team will compete game in and out. I truly believe that. And guess what - if the cost of doing this is Lathan hitting the road it’s a price we must pay. We’re not going to win without a real 5. The style D Pike aims for just doesn’t allow for it. Folks who want Lathan to be our center need to convince Jay Wright to come coach. We don’t play that style and the odds of Pike suddenly having success in a way that he’s never had it before feels like poor odds to me. Just my opinion.

OT: Favorite Bingeable/ Weekly Show Right Now…

Is that just season 2? Haven’t seen that yet. I didn’t feel that in season 1. I enjoyed her character in season 1.

The Bear is the only show where incessant yelling was irritating to us.
I liked season 1 of The Bear but couldn’t get through the 2nd episode of season 2. It seemed they decided to just give each actor a full show monologue to win more awards.

OT: Nations Face-Off 2025

Only got to see the OT and highlights since it was poker night, but very happy for Canada and McDavid, the best player in the world and the most fun to watch. I root for the US in most sports, but always root for Canada in hockey - it's their game and especially the last few decades it's been sad to see no Canadian teams winning the Stanley Cup.
What??????????????????????????

Freshman on the road......

No team in the history of team sports has played every individual game according to their season’s average. You win or lose most often by either exceeding or falling short of your average (or your opponent’s average), respectively.

Of course. The point was - we still needed overtime to win, despite two of our worst shooters going a perfect 3 for 3 from long range. It was in response to the posts saying we won because Dylan played well. Sure - we needed that too. But we don’t win without two of our worst shooters having atypically good days from long range. These are guys that the scouting report says not to worry much about guarding on the perimeter. And again, we still needed OT because our D is just really bad.
