Season Tickets

BS. You enjoyed last season more? Last year everyone bitched the team could not score and they would rather lose in a high scoring offense. Now we have Ace and Dylan. There have been highlights all year. Maybe your expectations were higher and that’s what created the disappointment.

I said what I said.

This is the least amount of games I went to this year and it was by choice. And yes, maybe some of that is because we didn’t come close to expectations. Outside of a few games, this team lacks effort and a desire to win.

And I was definitely not one that said I would rather lose in a high scoring offense lol. I would watch the NBA if I wanted to see that.

It’s hard for me to watch a team that doesn’t know how to play defense or box out for a rebound.

It’s also not as fun to watch a brand new team every year with kids who are here for 1 year and have little attachment to RU, or freshman who may just ditch the program for a bigger bag after 1 year.

Watching Dylan’s and Ace was entertaining this year but most of their best games were away from the RAC. But I don’t watch college basketball to watch 1-2 superstars blow people away while the overall team plays like crud. Again, I would watch the NBA if I wanted to see that.

Pike lost me last night.

Ace and Dylan don't make hard cuts and they don't use screens properly. They aren't alone. Players need to cut as if they are going to get the ball. Screens need to be set and used properly to get easy baskets..
I'm glad that this isn't just me. This has been a big criticism of mine with Pike for years. Our screens and our cuts to the basket are weak and sloppy. Watch the play at the end of the first OT vs ND in the NCAAs. RHJ basically jogged to the basketball instead of jammin long and cutting hard to the ball.

OT: Stormy and Potentially Snowy from about 2/8-2/22? (pg 9); OG Thread: Cold and Potentially Snowy Pattern Likely for Most of January

Dan Zarrow 101.5 has officially jumped on the hype machine. He has turned into a weenie in recent years which is disappointing since he was always conservative, He said this is the biggest storm he has ever seen. Could be 0 to over 2 feet for our area but of course he put in the always important disclaimer.

Can't make this stuff up lol.

that game just infuriates me...let an inferior team just have their way...one of the worst defensive performances ever
We didn’t have much resistance toward stopping Princeton that day. Iowa game yesterday reminded me of Princeton game in some ways when they took over in 2nd half. Iowa executed with precision and exploited our lack of effort on the defensive end, just like Princeton.

Pike in the Film Room

In a similar situation, how do we not ever improve on baseline out of bounds? We throw the ball in to the backcourt more than any team I’ve ever seen. BLOBs are taught and practiced daily at every playing level. It’s been an issue even when Paul Mulcahy, a smart good passer, would often inbound with turnovers.
Truly insane to think that inbounding the ball, inbounds plays and inbound passing is a program issue, but here we are as this has gone on for years. It cost us the NCAA ND Play-In game. Our real krytptonite is the baseline inbounds when the inbounder can’t move on the baseline, lord are we bad at those plays.

2024 - 2025 High School Season and Tournaments

Southern is well connected to wrestling programs all over the state and beyond. Through direct contact and friends of friends, they essentially recruit whoever they want. Every year you will find elite guys on their roster who spent their lives living elsewhere and suddenly had the desire to Stafford township.
not a hard sell = rent a place in LBI and have your kid wrestle for one of the top public programs in NJ. Way cheaper than Delbarton and you get to enjoy the Jersey Shore.

Rotation going forward - play for next year

those two played about 30 minutes last night. I don’t know how long both were on the bench at the same time, but I assume it’s a pretty small sample size. People continue to want to rag on Dylan and Ace. But again, we came into this season completely failing to grab a portal 5 and 4 that can compete at this level. It all trickles down from there. I’m sure DH and Ace (along with the rest of the team) are frustrated a bit because of the losing this year. They know they are shorthanded and it’s not going to get better. After 20+ games, it’s up to coach to keep it together
Agreed with the sentiment of the coach needing to keep it together. That second half was a display of a coach not keeping his team together, they played with no energy or fight or resistance. Meanwhile, we saw such a stark contrast from Iowa and McCaffery as Iowa has been hit with injuries, not having a great year, and they were down double digits to us. And yet, they responded to their coaches message and competed. McCaffery nearly broke down in tears on the court with Katz in the postgame because of how proud he was of his team. That is a coach keeping it together.
