Why is it ridiculous to say he “gutted” the program. The program had decent momentum coming into last year, he’s lost 15/20 games and has positioned Rutgers as the answer to a Trivia Question given his disgraceful ineptitude coaching a team with two lottery picks.

Can you please let this community know what Pike would need to do to effectively gut the program? If he burned down the practice facility as a demonstration of his solidarity with Pat Hobbs would that do it?

Yes, if we had confidence he could do better. After misses like Simpson, Woolfolk, and Reiber , he tried to upgrade and couldn’t do it. I have zero confidence he could assemble a good team in the new NIL/portal world.

Good news is in the portal era you can overturn an entire roster in one season

Bad news is that it'll be tough to recruit after this year, NIL money, and past history of low hit rate on transfers

If I'm Pike, I'm going for long athletes who hustle and play D and finding a rim protector rebounding 5

I think this years recruiting class was him going back to the length. Grant, Dortch. Next years class also. He still needs a big though, but better to find those in the portal.

For those calling for Grant - he's showing a lot of good things, but was dreadful plenty of times tonight, too.

Almost everyone in scarlet needed to be benched tonight.

With about 3 minutes left, I was almost at the point of wanting Pike to bring in the walk-ons to send a message.
