Pikes tenure here now has the shape of a bell curve. Guy takes four years to build one of the best teams we’ve had in some time. Grit, heart, so much fun to root for. Almost made the sweet 16. Then a couple hiccups with a loss to Lafayette and a stinker v Seton Hall but they gutted through early 2022 to another ncaa bid. Then in March of 2023 there was the first red flag for me that the program that was rebuilt was unraveling. It was the “bless the rains” song and dance at Minnesota and a blown late big lead. Cost them an ncaa bid. From that point forward all the pimples came forward. No offense, hero ball, messed up rotations, no focus, no discipline, no accountability. Two years later here we are. Blew our best recruiting class ever and next year looks worse. We’re back to cellar dwellers. I miss RHJ, Geo, Myles, Jacob, Caleb, Paul and a few more and the accountability they brought on themselves. Pike coached and didn’t try to be players friends. They had heart and played defense. Now those days are gone.
