OT: Billy Joel, Rod Stewart to perform one-night-only show at Yankee Stadium

If you go to You Tube and search the title of a favorite rock song and the phrase "and reaction" you will usually find several "young" reviewers listening and giving their opinions on what they hear. Unbelievably, they have never heard many of these songs (maybe bits and pieces from sampling or something used in a commercial). They love most of the stuff we took for granted growing up and also bemoan what they have to listen to today. I have to admit, it is interesting watching someone who never heard "Roundabout" or "Won't Get Fooled Again" light up with amazement at what they are hearing. Brings me back to my own time when I heard this stuff for the first time.

Yes, I’ve been watching the music “reaction” videos on YouTube for a number of years. It’s interesting to see their reactions to songs from 40, 50 or 60 years ago. Sometimes I actually get irked at some of the older people who comment on the reactions. Some get cranky and write stuff like , “how can you not know this song” or “how have you not heard of this band? “ My thought is if there were older people reacting to new music today, how many would know anything about the songs or artists? The vast majority of the younger people who react to the older music are very thoughtful and interested.

We are dearly paying the price for lack of recruiting for three straight years

Program desperately needs a General Manager for which player evaluation is essential.

As Shack highlighted - past few years of recruiting have been awful as has been the portal - sans Cam Spencer.
Yesssss.... I've said this a few times too. It is essential IMO especially since Pike isnt going anywhere

It goes easy on Pike in the sense it's blaming him for not adapting to the landscape well enough.

Really the issue is that he has a fairly awful record of identifying/acquiring talent, especially in recent years
💯 and since Pike isnt going anywhere, Rutgers should hire a GM to deal with the portal and NIL fund distribution. It's not Pike's strength

Only assistant coach who should return is Jay Young.

Knight is overrated. There is a reason why he has yet to become a HC

Thompson and Smoke are a dime a dozen.

If Knight should become a HC - Smoke will be his top assistant.

Pike needs to make CEO decisions at the end of this season - not decisions based on loyalty. .
Yes please

We need an offensive mind on the staff.
This should have happened years ago

Brad Wachtel: “Might be time to pull the plug”

If a coach can't get players that he evaluated and recruited to do the things he needs them to do then he doesn't deserve to lead them. Everybody likes to talk about how much a buyout will cost us. How about how much we will fail to make if we keep him.

Some coaches have longer leashes due to their previous success though.

GAME 16 PURDUE: I don't care anymore

At this point, those smaller programs have become feeders for larger programs. You get a kid to develop for 2 years, and then they hit the portal and cash in somewhere else. At this point the only programs that haven't yet fallen victim to this sort of churn are the Ivies.
Fair point

He will be an asset on the court for sure, the offseason just didn’t sit right with me. I’ll get over it if he’s good and less than $1 million to keep though
$1 mil for Lathan?!?!

If that's true, Rutgers is hopeless forever

No. He is not a great coach. He’s a coach that can teach defense to willing learners. And that’s it.

He is a good coach whose philosophy didn’t evolve with NIL. He has struggled enormously to adapt, which is honestly hard to do.

Those of you claiming to more season and money…well that’s why we are RU because of thinking like that. Give this 2 more years and we will have a program like WBB. He has one more year and that’s it at most
