Well yeah I will still use my tickets this year and go to the RAC but that lovin feelin for this program is gone gone gone. A complete horror show in 16 episodes. It was gone weeks ago but now we can officially bury this corpse of a season and please please can some of you holding out hope have some dignity and just LET IT GO already. This is a bad team. They are not well coached. They have two very talented players and little else. They do not do anything as a unit which constitutes a team. There is no DREAM BIG DREAMS from 89 coming nor a 91 turnaround leading to a conference championship. In fact they are getting progressively worse with each game and now have lost 8 of their last 12. Going bac 2 last season Coach Pikiells team has lost 15 of their last 24......RUTGERS HAS LOST 15 OF THEIR LAST 24 BASKETBALL GAMES....it hasnt been brought up here people havent been paying attention but the program is in FREEFALL.
Ive moved beyond Rutgers will miss the NCAA for the 3rd consecutive season and now focused on how Pikiell gutted the program by making a deal with the devil. 2 one and dones and for what....to sit 17th place in the Big 10. Its beyond comprehension. Complete and utter failure on all levels and now where the hell does the program go from here. Pike will be back next year unless he steps aside. However now even I have moved towards the idea that if next year isnt a success that will be it. I do not see a 2nd year after coming. I do not care what the contract says. Thius is real bad folks. 15 games left and yes this abyss can get lower. My strategy is to care less and less about this team which right now is my least favorite team since Jordans last so about a decade. There is little to like about this team because it is not a TEAM. It is some funky amalgamation of one and dones, should not be here, never was, and do not cares. Not what we were promised and not something I am interested in investing my emotions toward.
I do not have the answers but tonight was complete garbage for a 9th year coach to have his team put out that kind of feeble performance and taking a giant leap backwards to the Fred Hill error in terms of excitement. It makes me not want to care and that is where I am at right now. A season lost and unrecoverable and the cherry on the top is that any legit talent isnt coming back. The 2 guys that matter are gone and anyone left are simply not good enough to build around. Thats the conundrum...just what is next, what is the program building for and how can it even take a beath of life in the next 2 and half months
I agree and sadly the thought had crossed my mind even before the season. Pike completely gutted the team and put it on auto-pilot just for these 2 one and dones, and I kept questioning what would be in it for Rutgers if we didn't capitalize and all we had to show were 2 draft picks. Nightmare came true. When I say "gutted" I mean that he went away from the culture and philosophy and players that built the identity of the program.
The draft talk to me was about as interesting as the TV deal money debates that people get so into. Not really relevant to me as a fan. Of course I'd love for these guys to be drafted and be successful. But with one year, and a bad one, it doesn't carry the same weight as when a guy like Monangai will do it. Or Pacheco etc. Or Ron Jr.
If these guys were going to be here even 2 years it would mean more. But it's over already and it was just OK.
Not sure where we go from here. Esp in this new world. It's not fun the way basketball has been handled. I'd prefer the way Schiano does things. But I know its not possible in babasketballmy tickets havent gotten much use this year, and I don't know how much longer I'll be a basketball season ticket holder. Just bc of the new way the game is.
