Pike is not leaving Davis out of the rotation
I agree. Davis played much better last night and if he continues to make good decisions on offense he will most likely get the nod as the back up PG. If Acuff plays well too, as he gets back in shape, Pike will have a tough choice to make.

Pike was making subs on both sides of the floor last night (offensive sub and then defensive sub). He may try to do that later in the season too. It becomes a bit tricky to manage but I could see that working.

Well played, well coached game

Agree. I understand the plan with RU is to focus the offense on Monangai, control the clock, keep the opponent's offense off of the field. But it usually makes the passing game a secondary thought. And rarely does the Rutgers offense send its receivers deep more than a small handful of times unless it absolutely needs to late. How about using the passing game (both short and deep) to start and then bringing in Monangai and the run game later rather than from the start?

If the Rutgers defense finds itself in a shoot-out, the offense will have to have more of game like the Minnesota game. The time will come to control the game with Monangai... all I'm saying is that maybe its something that comes later rather than up front. Besides, if you have some passing success early, it should enhance the runs by Kyle Monangai.

So I did something I’ve never done before - We were away for NJ convention this week in the Bahamas. On Saturday AM, I checked out the Sports Book over there… I made a nice chuck betting on Rutgers.

I normally don’t bet at all, and never on Rutgers, but aligned with the point you made, I felt that the line on Athan’s total passing yards was so low it almost had to be a mistake at 180. With Kyle not playing, I just couldn’t picture any scenerio where he wouldn’t clear that - win or lose - because I knew we’d be throwing a ton. I found it fascinating that even without Kyle, Vegas seemed to expect us to keep the ball on the ground. I knew Greg wouldn’t do that though. Not with only a frosh and sophomore RB duo available.

Should Rutgers be in the ACC?
It was widely believed being in the Big Ten was a huge advantage over being in the ACC.
Regardless of anything else.

You seem to be implying being in the Big Ten isn't nearly as advantageous and perhaps being in the ACC is a bigger advantage?
We’re in the Big Ten to stay, but we would have been more competitive in football in the ACC, since those programs aren’t as well capitalized as our Big Ten opponents.

Can Greg figure out Maryland?

The last few years have been really rough for us. I know they had a dominant QB, but it was also their WR's who were so wide open. They also had a rushing attack we couldn't stop. Is there reason to believe this year will be different? Greg even sounded overmatched in his press conference this week. If we lose the game, but play competitively, it would give me some confidence. Obviously we want to win. They don't even have a big crowd at their stadium. They just have a scheme that we have not figued out. Crossing routes from fast wide recievers and our defense isn't close. I would rather play press coverage and get beat deep, rather than getting killed in a soft zone. And unfortunately, we could never get to Tagliovoa because of their stout Oline.

The Stadium and Hale Center plus bubble and many practice fields is equal to a field house. Adding a field house.. for us.. just isn't that important. I mean, other than a checklist item.. what would it ADD to the setup we already have? Can we practice indoors.. YES. Do we have an ample weight room, etc.. YES.

I think maybe wes should go down a list of what Syracuse fieldhouse gives them that is new to them and figure out what features we do not already have. Fieldhouse is a fancy name for things we already have.
It’s important for recruiting, which is why Oregon is expanding theirs, USC is building a brand new one, Maryland and Syracuse built a brand new one, and Penn State spent $50M to upgrade theirs and $700M on Stadium renovations.

Ours is going to be built eventually. The designs are done. Now money will need to be raised for construction.

Minutes Distribution

PG: Harper (25), Davis (15)
SG: JWill (23), Harper (8), Acuff (8), Derkack (3)
SF: Ace (20), Derkack (17), Hayes (3)
PF: Martini (17), Ace (10), Hayes (13)
C: Sommerville (22), Ogbole (11), Martini (4), Ace (3)

I think that adds up.
If I were to venture a guess this pretty darn close to where i think Pike will be.

I might give a few minutes from Somerville and give them to ogbole or a non center

Acuff looks a step slow and tentative.....is that an injury thing or is he not going to improve and be next guy out of rotation?

They’re in the ACC! They’re on easy street. They’re going bowling, and they have a new Fieldhouse and NIL support.

We have no fieldhouse, not enough NIL, and play Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, Washington, and Iowa next year which have awesome Fieldhouses and significant NIL. Our challenge is a lot more difficult.
