Women's Basketball Continues Homestand Versus NJIT

Pleased for the win, but free throw percentage is still troubling. Based on a couple of post-game comments, it seems that at least some of the players recognise that playing defense is important. They focused on defense in the 3Q and built a lead that they maintained while being outscored in the 4Q.

Anyone who has seen the homes games so far, do the three-point attempts look poorly advised, or is it more that they just aren't falling (yet)? Thanks for any insight.

WBB - a few notes

Please stop the false characterisation of the CVS-era
WBB is 3-0 thus far, and I’ve watched most of the three games. Granted they were playing mid-major competition, but this team plays a very exciting, run and gun offensive style that is the polar opposite of CViv’s all defense/no offense style from the last 10 years of her tenure. Very fun team to watch if you don’t mind the somewhat porous defense. (Greene Rice FIG, look away, man, look away).
Please stop the false characterisation of CVS style being no offense. Strong defense is not that same as no offense. Depending on personnel and opponents, games featured strong defense-->turnover-->fast-break transition.

PJ seems like a good dude

PJ is a very high energy guy who was an amazing recruiter when he was on our staff. He really looks up to Schiano, or at least used to. Like Schiano, he seems like he is a program builder and most of the kids seem to like to play for him. I spoke to a member of the Manny football support crew, and the person said that they liked working for him. I think that he is a good match for Minnesota.

OT: Regional Drought Thread

Gonna be hard-pressed to get anything measurable south of 78 but we will see
Not sure why you'd say that. Radar looks good and every model has a widespread 1/4-1/2" for the whole Philly/NJ/NYC region.

And here's the latest NWS-Philly update on the latest counts of consecutive days without measurable precipitation at the major climate locations as of Saturday (last time there was measurable precipitation and the amount are in parentheses); the streaks should end for these stations tonight (or early Monday). By the way, the NJDEP is holding a hearing on Tuesday to discuss potential water use restrictions.

Allentown 16 days (0.01" on October 24) - tied for 44th longest
Atlantic City Airport 38 days (0.02" on October 2) - record longest
Mount Pocono 26 days (0.05" on October 14) - tied for 2nd longest
Philadelphia 42 days (0.11" on September 28) - record longest
Reading 16 days (0.01" on October 24) - tied for 73rd longest
Trenton 42 days (0.23" on September 28) - record longest
Wilmington 42 days (0.04" on September 28) - record longest
Georgetown 43 days (0.13" on September 27) - record longest

One note on this, drought is a much longer term weather phenomena than most of the hazardous weather we talk about, so one rain event (especially one with as little as this), generally isn't enough to make any significant dent in the deficit and drought conditions. Therefore, please continue to heed any burn bans or water conservation efforts your localities may have in place! For the rest of the week, there is a small (emphasis on small) chance for rain on Thursday. Otherwise, it appears we'll have mostly dry conditions.

Chyna, and Destiny

What a game. In 15 minutes she had 15 boards. Can you imagine if she had a real coach to help her out? Entire coaching staff looks mummified.
Destiny Adams.

Sad, really sad I hope Brenda, and Geno are not sniffing around.

No chatter about the upcoming game?

I have not watched the video, but watching live from 105 it was clear quite early that the play was not going to work. It wasn’t there and he forced its. We could have walked away with 3 points but instead turned it over. He had a very good game overall, but that decision sucked and his accuracy on a number of throws was bad. Athan struggles to throw on the run and he misses some of the easy throws. Again…he was good yesterday, primarily in the first half when he was more accurate.
