Football Rutgers inks Kirk Ciarrocca to extension through 2027 season

I think $500 was too high but “well below expectations”?
And while I think Greg has limitations- there is one thing he will do- he will actually keep us relevant. He may not get to the promise land but he took us from a bottom 5 P4 program to a mid B1G program.
That actually secures us athletically.
Greg will build a program capable of being a playoff team.
But , in my opinion,it will take a better game-day HC to get Rutgers there.
Right now , as I see it ,Schiano is the type of HC the RU FB program needs, in a couple of years RU will need a doer
because the" builder" has done all he could do by building the type of program that is capable of being a playoff contender under a good game-day HC.

Rutgers might be overpaying GS & KC with he extensions they received> I look on that as RU willing to pay a bit more than they should for past accomplishments as a way to invest in and for the future of the football program.

Thanks Hat!
I don’t consider anyone injured as opting out.
And the rest seem like non contributers looking for a school to play at.

Rating is SRS now and is per 40 minutes. It is relative to an average D1 player.
It’s amazing all the stats out there that can be leveraged across our coaching staff, which I am 100% positive they are using and it’s not clear to them who should be playing.
You can just look at this as an average fan and clearly see who should be starting for this team:
Dylan
Ace
Lathan
Acuff
Grant

While Grant and Acuff have small sample sizes you get different elements to our game that have been sorely lacking. Grant actually have a very good presence for the ball around the rim and helps us in rebounding and a rim presence on defense(still extremely raw from a visual perspective)
Acuff actually is much more composed than any of the benchwarmers we have. Limits turnovers, looking for assists, and can create his own shot/hit a shot. Has lapses on defense but lets put that to bed as our entire team does.

First person off the bench for me is Jwill. He does bring energy to the game but is erratic and not composed. Bring him in for a spark potentially maybe creating a steal or an offensive play. He can give a breather to anyone not named Lathan.

Bring in EO for to spell Lathan and that’s just similar when we give Ace/Dylan breaks..quick and fast but do not make it time bound(Pike issue that lingers). Lathan barely wastes a lot of energy out there as it is with his matador defense and lack of touches on offense.
An alternative could be sliding Grant to the 5(I know I’ll get killed on this)
If we needed to go to a smaller lineup and bring in someone like Hayes for 3s.

Davis and Dercack are game situation reserves. Situational based on matchups, defensive decisions, etc. both have their moments where we go “ok” they aren’t killing us but that is about 10% of the time—the other 90% is a shake your head moment so again you limit them.

Tell this team it’s really a 7-8 player rotation going forward that will dominate the time and shot selection and ball movement are a premium on offense.

On defense where I have been advocating for zone to protect the rim, I can see this team has a low IQ so rotations are terrible and playing out of place. I’m also weary of man to man on PnR because our 5 is always out of position. Time we have to mix it up throughout the game to see what’s working properly at the moment. Man to man seems to be our best(gulp) but again low IQ doesn’t have defenders on helpside or stopping the ball.

All starts with the right personnel and we have seen disaster lineups, subs and all so far. This is where we need coaches to step up. Otherwise just flush it and hope we get the number 1 pick next year(oh wait!)—this isn’t the NBA yet we may already have that player on our team

OT: Problems in UCLA Locker Room

I think I may put you on ignore. To say you wanted him fired after the Houston game.
All fair but that game for me is all I needed to see. He was out coached panicked and cost us a real chance to get to the final four.

I knew then he reached the level he could and would never get us further. For some that was enough and buys him a decade of failure. I want to win and win consistently. He deserves a lot of credit for that one class and what he accomplished but it’s over.

The numerous amounts of games he has cost us since simply by inept coaching has grown. His inability to build a team has become more apparent.

You can provide any and all of the excuses needed. It’s a results world and Pike is failing miserably.

Pike and pike alone said the Rutgers standard is making the NCAA tournament. Well that is not on the horizon ever for him.

It’s over

OT (Updated): The Saturday 1/11 Event Now Looking Like <1" with a Whiff Possible on the Low Side and 1-2" Possible on the High Side

A dusting at most in Belmont Hills and Manayunk. Not even measurable. The sun sneaked briefly. This "storm" will be unrecognizable in a few hours.
Philadelphia area official snow count for the season before last night was 2.2 inches. Less then most deep South cities.

Carino Lights Us Up

If Carino is correct.. I think maybe we see Pike surrender on this season and start training up the team for future seasons. That would mean more losses but closer losses.. unless the stars do not cooperate because they are one and done anyway. If he doesn't train em up for future seasons... instead of a single rebuild year we could be looking at a slippery-slope kinda thing.

I was hoping that the other guys playing with Ace and Dylan would improve beyond what they could have because of going against them in practice.

The team has to get it together but I don't see a team leader to rally around.

OT: 2025 NY Jets Off Season Thread

I would be good with Flores. I thought he did a good job at Miami and kind of got screwed. He would bring toughness and accountability, he’s a NY guy and wouldn’t put up with nonsense.
It sounded like Flores’ interpersonal skills needed some work based on how he was perceived in MIA, but he was absolute right in pushing back on the idea of betting the team’s future on Tua.

OT: New York Mets 2024-2025 Off Season Thread

I’m not sure how much better even Soto is by waiting for free agency. Wasn’t the Washington offer like $450m with opt outs. He would have banked 2 additional years of max money and likely still redid his contract if he performed the same. Factor in the time value of money, those 2 extra years are huge.
That's way beyond my skill set. I'm more of a first grade math teacher.
