Corey Hetherman to Miami as DC

Would have liked him at RU. Seems to truly have been the difference in our defensive coaching as the Dark Side.
Same here and I'm sure we missed him but the injuries had a much bigger impact than his departure. In 2023 we had 3 guys who are considered high level DC's if you count Schiano. All high energy guys who got the D fired up too. But it's hard to get a guy playing hurt to get too fired up and play "violent" every snap. Much easier when everyone is healthy. Plus we had a lot of missed assignments this year with new guys forced into action.

Based on the recruiting class and the portal additions I'm guessing recruits are buying in on the Defensive side of the ball.

USC ran good stuff against Illini

two really good teams. And to think Rutgers could’ve beaten Alabama and should’ve beaten A&M.
Forgot to mention , 55 ridiculous fouls were called in the game and Texas A& M shot 28-48 missing 20 and Alabama was 27-40 missing 13 from the foul line . Both teams missed and also took a ton of foul shots (88) . That is 3-4 games worth for a lot of teams . A&M extra 7 misses cost them the game as they lost by 6.

Rutgers recruit Brandt Harer

The younger Harer looks like a stud.I like the turn around his brother is doing here. I was really impressed with his match against Indiana. That kid he wrestled is super tough.Being a true freshman, tossed into the line up for a ranked Big 10 team, wrestling not only some of best in the country but arguably the world is not for your average human being.Im proud of what Conner is doing here. A little more offense and tightening up his defense he will make some noise come NCAAs.
You can tell current Harer is going to be very good. Same with younger brother.

USC ran good stuff against Illini

I know this is a USC / Illinois thread but incredible game tonight between Alabama and Texas A&M with Alabama pulling it out. Now A&M has been without Wade Taylor tonight and their last game as well where they came from 18 points down on the road to beat Oklahoma.

The SEC is so loaded that 3 game losing streaks are going to happen to good teams. The Big 10 is a notch or two below but 3 game losing streaks will happen to good teams as well.

Halftime Dance Team

Probably just fencing and wrestling a couple of years back, which was really cool. I was able to get down to Olde Queens for the bell ringing!
individuals not teams... not that there is anything wrong with those either.
missed penalty kick vs. UCLA in NC soccer was a super close miss. Womens BBall vs. Tenn in NC game...

guess the women's AIAW bball team is the only real one and even that is a debate ..

How lucky is Kyle Flood?

The question still stands. You questioned the question and questioner without offering an explanation. You assumed I was making a statement rather than asking a question.

I would really love to see some guesses to explain that offense, that season. And while how it relates to Flood is moot.. his co-OC was our current OC who just got an extension.

No - I didn’t. Flood is getting credit for being good as a position coach. My comment was that when one looks at Kyle Flood’s career as an OL position coach (the whole macro picture including at Rutgers and after Rutgers) it’s near impossible to draw that conclusion that he has performed poorly in this specific role overall.

The 2010 Rutger’s team’s extremely poor performance could be attributed to a multitude of things with LeGrand’s injury overarching it all. Regardless - on no stratosphere does anything about that one season in isolation demonstrate that Kyle Flood isn’t a good OL coach. It’s literally one single data point amongst many others that suggest the opposite.

Here's your #1 NBA 2025 draft pick

I think Flagg and Harper will be the class of this year one and done. ACE certainly has talent but he has to make more of a commitment on the D game. I think all 3 will be all stars in the NBA in a few years
Court awareness, vision, “ice water in veins” and innate basketball IQ are gifts.

Usually present, accounted for and noticed by every coach you’ve ever played for from middle school on.

Ace needs to learn them at some point

Here's your #1 NBA 2025 draft pick

Irrelevant stat line....Flagg is going to be 1st and in the long line of Top Picks who bust.....As long Ace and Dylan go in the Top 3 to 5, they're more than fine. Flagg doesn't have the upside of Ace or Dylan.
This kid was 18 playing against the full team USA roster and looked like he belonged. Not saying ace and Dylan won’t be better but to say as a matter of fact he doesn’t have the same upside is wild.

OT: Dry January

I normally do a dry February starting after the Superbowl so about 3 weeks. However, last Sunday night I realized I had caught the stomach flu thing. So I started it during the days of recovery. Food and drinks are not appealing still.
Anyway taking a break is a wise, healthy choice. After a week you start feeling a noticable difference and by the end most people lose weight, sleep better and look better.

I don't drink any non-alcohol "beers" however non-alcohol beers have improved dramatically in the last 5 years. New technology to remove alcohol especially by vacuum evaporation and filtration. So forget about O'Doul's and try anything from Athletic Brewery (leading the market by far in the East Coast ) or try two 0.0 entries that are raved about. Both Guinness and Heineken are the top of that category.
Non alcohol beer have grown at a rapid rate since the pandemic!

Surace is going to be a legit QB for us for years.

I agree with Lotus and use HS commits like Sit and Wimsatt along with LSU transfer Rettig as examples of the QBs we expected to be good ones, from the hype surrounding them , that just didn't make the grade

Hopefully the difference will be that this time we’re not throwing our guy into the fire. Plenty of time to develop. Let’s see what happens.
