Pretty sure no Big 10 teams have a worse situation at the 5 at present.. being that it's only Lathan and Dortch. Just saying, I don't pretend to know who he could have gotten or not or understand the NIL picture for funds for a 5. Could he have gotten a really underrated defensive 5 from a small school for cheap, maybe. But it's probably a crapshoot at that point. Is it worth losing your 4 star recruit over? Maybe, maybe not. You have to play the game as it is now in the NIL world. Players have power.

Ogbole and Sommerville were serviceable and had moments of improvement and being enough to get by. What team has bona-fide stars or strengths for positions 1-5? The real issue to me is the lack of production from the other portal gets and lack of good guard play for most of the year.

Carr gave Ace a very hard time today. His length, size, and athleticism really bothered Ace.

Why not run some action off ball with Ace to get him a more advantageous matchup?

Sure, you can say he struggled shooting percentage wise, but WHY did that happen? And what adjustments were made by this staff to put Ace in a position to succeed in the 2nd half?

It’s the players job to put the ball in the hoop, but it’s the coach’s job to put him in a position to do so.

The Defense today was really good! Other positive thoughts…

it took awhile to get here, but thats the kind of Rutgers defense needed to win. Look, Ace was just off and doesn’t miss that many shots and Derkack was unconscious. But the way i see it, MSU had one run that got them into double digits and we couldn’t recover. They are an older team.

But, the good news is that without a healthy Harper, we stayed in the game. I think Grant and Lathan are going to benefit with the extended playing time due to Ogboles injury.

We did some good things out there today and never gave up. Im going to stay positive and hope we can figure out a way to get to the Big 10 tournament and some type of post season play. If Dylan gets healthy, we could be a dangerous team.

Stay positive. I Love the football running back we landed today. Continue to play hard in hoops and thats that. Not gonna get upset over what we can’t control. Go RU.

The problem is he has the type of injury that will take at least a couple of weeks minimum to heal and the means we will basically have played almost 75% of the schedule without a healthy Dylan

Exactly. A healthy Dylan might have scored 20 points, and Derkack probably gets significantly less. This game was never in doubt and we would find ways to lose. Coaching would also make a huge difference in a close game. This is not a good team at all.

Pike has had the most success with under recruited, blue collar guys. When that philosophy stops working for him - that’s when I’d consider it a coaching issue.

He certainly constructed this roster with transfers - and one and dones - and again, it’s not the roster that fits his style.

Get back to basics next year, and if that fails that’s when I’d say it’s a pikiell problem
