Team going out to the West Coast a day early

As is now customary for East Coast Big Ten teams going to the West Coast, Rutgers is flying to Eugene two days ahead of the game.

Maybe Sunday's game will be more competitive than when Greg took the football team to LA on a Wednesday for a Friday night loss.

Sun County Airlines, though?

March 2022 Crystal Ball

This season will set the team back astronomically. Recruits, even 3-4 stars, want to play in the ncaas and this season screams you can’t get there with RU. If you would have told me 35 months ago that we’d be back to laughing stock and Pike and not one, but two five stars would lead us there I would have called you nuts.

Screens

Other than a high ball screen, does Pikell use other types of screens during a game to get players open to shoot 3s? Maybe he is and I am not identifying it. Nonetheless, I did a little research and found the following information which I believe informative to those of us who are not basketball mavens:

1. Screen Away – The player at the top of the key passes to a wing. The passer then sets a screen in the opposite direction (away from the ball) for the weak-side wing to cut to the ball.

2. Down Screen – The wing passes to the top of the key. The wing player then sets a screen for the strong-side post player to cut to the perimeter.

3. Back Screen – The wing passes to the top of the key. The post player then sets a screen for the wing player to cut to the basket.

4. Zipper Screen – The ball is dribbled from the top of the key toward the wing. The wing player cuts to the block then cuts straight up the lane off a screen from the high post for a perimeter shot.

5. UCLA Screen – The ball is passed to the wing. The high post sets a screen for the player at the top of the key to cut to the basket.

6. Flare Screen – The ball is passed to the wing. The player at the top of the key uses a screen from the high post to cut away from the ball for a perimeter shot. The weak-side wing can also set a flare screen for the player at the top of the key.

7. Stagger Screen – A stagger screen occurs when two screens are set at different angles to allow the cutter to rub the defender off of one or both of the screens. Often a low post player sets the first screen as the cutter comes out of the lane. A second screen is set by a perimeter player at a different angle to free the cutter for a shot.

8. Bump Screen – This occurs when two players have set a stagger screen.

The bottom player in the stagger screens for the top player in the stagger to cut to the corner for a perimeter shot.

9. Curl Screen – This is another option from the stagger screen. The shooter cuts all the way around both screens and continues to the basket.

The bottom man in the stagger follows the shooter and curls around a screen set by the top man in the stagger.

10. Corner Pin – The ball is at the top of the key. The wing sets a flat angle screen along the baseline for the shooter to cut to the corner for a perimeter shot.

11. Double Screen – Two players come together shoulder-to-shoulder at the block to set a double screen for the shooter to cut to the perimeter for a shot.

12. New York Screen – The ball is at the top of the key. The wing cuts toward the basket while the post player steps off the lane to set screen for the shooter to cut over the top toward the ball.

13. Flex Screen – The low post player moves off the block toward the player in the corner to set a back screen. The cutter from the corner goes below the screen looking for the ball as they cut to the basket.

14. Post Down Screen – The high post sets a screen for the weak-side low post player to cut to the elbow. The screener shapes up in the lane and looks for the ball.

15. Post Back Screen – The low post from the weak-side sets a screen for the high post to cut to the opposite side of the basket.

16. Iverson Screen – The Philadelphia 76ers used to run this for Allen Iverson. Two low post players set a screen for the shooter to cut corner-to-corner for a perimeter shot.

17. Floppy Screen – The shooter dives to the basket and hesitates under the rim. Two players set a double screen on one side of the lane, while one player sets a single down screen on the other side. The shooter may decide to cut to the perimeter off of either screen.

More of a reason for this season

Got to analyzing and I want all your opinions on these two choices. Granted there are many other choices but I used to think it was all A, but the more I think about it B plays a big part. What is more of a reason for this massively disappointing season:

A) the lack of talent brought in
Or
B) the lack of accountability, discipline and structure/schemes in the environment around the players

I used to think almost 100% A. But with time to think I’m more of a 60/40, 55/45 A.

What do you all think analytically? Thanks.

OT: Bitcoin, Altcoins, NFT's & All Things Crypto

With crypto getting accepted more and more by the mainstream, I ( and @T2Kplus20) felt it was worth having a thread on all things crypto. I k now this thread is going to open up pandora's box of shitposts, but I really don't care. I'd like to see this used to help educate people on a growing technology and mindset.

I've only become a Bitcoin bull in the past year. The printing of 4 Trillion dollars was what put me over the edge in looking for an inflation hedge. After digging aggressively into gold I began to realize that BTC was what I was looking for. Only 21 million BTC will ever be in existence and its a deflationary asset that can be transported anywhere in minutes.

In the past year, I've witnessed companies and institutions get involved in BTC, eliminating any concern I had that it would one day "go to zero." The image below I ripped from the sub-Reddit on Bitcoin, showing institutional headlines towards BTC in the past, and their recent headlines.

The current market cap of BTC is over 1 Trillion. BTC is the fastest asset to ever reach that number. The market cap of Gold is roughly 10 Trillion.

The people who say that Bitcoin will never be a currency are pretty much right. It's not. It's become a digital store of value, just as gold is a store of value. You wouldnt walk into Chipotle and shave off some gold to pay for a burrito, just as you wouldnt pay for it in a fraction of BTC.

An important phrase to remember is: "Not your keys, not your coins." The mindset behind this that if you do not hold the keys to your coins (digital proof theyre yours), you will never really own crypto. Everything you do with the "crypto" you own will have to be based around a traditional or Fiat currency. By holding your keys, you're future-proofing your crypto holdings and leave you less dependent on Fiat currency to perform any transaction with your crypto.

Where to buy crypto:

I strongly recommend if you're interested in getting involved in crypto, you open an account with one of those sites. They're easy to signup for, insured and MOST IMPORTANTLY, give you the ability to withdraw your coins if you would like. Do NOT purchase crypto on Robinhood, Square or Paypal. They do NOT let you withdraw your coins. You can never take possession of your coins. All you can do is sell them back to that exchange, which you will get a capital gains tax on.
Also, crypto on Robinhood is not insured. If they have a liquidity crisis and go belly up (GME proved that this is not outside the realm of possibilities) you will lose your coins.

The sites above let you buy as much or as little % of a bitcoin as you would like. For example, my Gemini account does a weekly buy of $25 of BTC for me. It also alerts me if there is a massive price swing in BTC. People often think you have to buy a whole coin. This is false.

Other Ways to Buy:
You could also invest in Grayscale or Galaxy funds to get Bitcoin exposure. IMO, it's not worth the premium they charge. You also never own any actual coins.

Ethereum and other Altcoins:
While BTC, serves as a store of value coin, The Ethereum network serves as utility, running smart contracts on other apps on it's blockchain network. The token for that ETH is the second largest crypto, with a 200+ Billion market cap.

There's thousands of other coins out there. You can see how they rank here. https://coinmarketcap.com/

The ranking is not necessarily a good barometer of how good a coin it is. 4 out of 5 of the top 50 coins I wouldnt touch, but that's me.

I currently hold BTC, ETH, ELA, DCR, AAVE & FIL. I'd be happy to discuss why I own any of these.

Blockchain:
Blockchain is the underlying technology that allows the coins or tokens to run on them. For those who used to download things using BitTorrent, Blockchain is very similar. This video is an easy explanation of blockchain: Login to view embedded media
NFT's:
This video is probably the easiest way tolay out NFT's. Its Cramer asking Anthony Pompliano (one of my favorite people in the BTC space) about NFT's

JWill

Hearing about his pregame and half time clowning around, and seeing his constant smiling and laughing when they are losing has got me sick of him. That doesn't even include his totally out of control play, his ball hogging, and his awful shooting and constant falling down. Cut down the number of kids that play and begin with him. I don't mean bring him off the bench. I mean stop playing him altogether. If he quits, he quits. Start taking control of the roster. The season is pretty much lost so let JMike have the opportunity to get better. Hell, he's already better than him at almost everything anyway. The kid played three really good games in a row so lets cut his minutes - brilliant. Give Derkack more minutes as a backup also. It will make him more ready for next year, he is a tough kid, and we'll probably have a better shot at getting his brother.

Pike: “100 percent on me” for Iowa loss- two thoughts

1. Yes, his poor in game coaching, prep, recruiting and portal misses, etc are 100 percent on him. But here’s something else…
2. Failing to call out piss poor efforts and lacksadasial attitudes, even generally - so afraid of offending players. Where’s the accountability??
And that, in the words of Yoda, is why he fails.

Pike outcoached. Again. Disgusted.

No feel for rotations. Guys standing around on offense. Commentators even said that we were screwing around in second half warmups. He has no control over this team. The game has passed him by. There’s so much more to add but I’m disgusted.’ And here come the Pike apologists shooting me down and fondly remembering the one win in the dance.
