April 26, 1948, 76 years ago today, WRSU begins broadcasting

April 26, 1948, 76 years ago today, WRSU begins broadcasting to Rutgers U, New Brunswick, NJ dormitories on College Avenue Campus, and to the surrounding area of our City. This makes it one of the oldest college stations in the country, and one of the few still on the air from that time period. They started as an AM station, converting fully to an FM station by 1976. Still broadcasting in the area today, tune in to 88.7 FM 24-7 to listen. Happy birthday WRSU

Rutgers ends covid vaccination requirements

Here's the e-mail I received today:

Members of the Rutgers Community,

As you are aware, since March 2020 we have relied on science, including guidance from our own experts and from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on how to best manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Your cooperation has been unfailing and led to a successful effort in keeping our community safe.

As we continue to unwind policies put in place during this time period, I write to inform you that, effective immediately, we will be suspending the following university policies:

Summary: Current and prospective employees will no longer be required to be immunized against the COVID-19 virus or seek a health or religious exemption.

Student Health Services 10.3.14 COVID-19 Immunization Record Requirement for Students

Summary: Current and prospective students will no longer be required to be immunized against the COVID-19 virus or seek a health or religious exemption. Note that ALL other vaccine requirements remain in effect.

Summary: University affiliates – individuals who have a non-employee and non-student relationship with the university – will no longer be required to be immunized against the COVID-19 virus or seek a health or religious exemption. Affiliates include health care contractors, non-health care contractors, class 9 employees, and individuals with courtesy appointments.

Covered Individuals (CI’s) – clinical students, faculty, and staff – will no longer be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or require a valid medical or religious exemption. Pre-employment screening for flu immunization during flu season will continue. Students in some programs may have continued requirements for clinical placements outside of Rutgers.

Questions concerning the University Human Resources policies may be directed to OneSource

Questions concerning the student policy may be directed to Student Vaccination Information

Questions concerning Covered Individuals may be directed to Covered Individual Information

Updated staff offer letter templates are available on Sakai through UHR’s website.

Please remove COVID-19 immunization language from faculty, post-doctoral associate, TA/GA, and all other offer letters.

In closing, I want to thank you for your dedication and cooperation during this difficult period and wish you much success and good health.

OT: Too Early 2024 NJ HS FB Thread???

Since Clinic season is definitely over and while Spring weight room sessions continue, I’m going to try to start a 2024 NJ HS FB Thread.

Starting off with a mention by Bill Belichek and Pat McAfee of one of the first games of the year in one of the up and coming football events in NJ during last nights draft coverage on ESPN…

Quitting on your team at the end of season does not help your chances of landing elsewhere

I think from everything I've read about the lack of interest Mag is getting from other programs is karma coming back to bite him. How could he have not realized that other programs could see what he was doing and are very hesitant to waste NIL money on someone they don't know they can rely on? It's just common sense

0T: NJ top 42 public high schools, according to some list

Not many good football playing schools on this list . Elizabeth and Hunterdon central seem like the best.
JP stevens used to be good . Seems like academics got much better and football got way worse in north Edison

Interesting list

Kobe Bryant's muse-a tribute to John Battle

Flipping through the dial and caught about 5_minutes of the Kobe Bryant special on Showtime

Anyway, as he was discussing NBA players that influenced his game, he gave a solid salute to former RU player, John Battle, then with the Atlantic Hawks

Bryant marvelled at how John could take a rebound and go coast to coast, dribbling with his off hand all the way, and take it all the way in to score
He said others might not remember John, but he certainly did, and strived to be able to do the same

the Show included a few buckets and moves by John

John was a great player for RU, he made one of the greatest leaps in playing I have seen on the banks
