USC Game Experiences-if you are going

This is pretty cool, but very pricey. Good way to raise extra $$$$$$.

starting at $1100 per experience.

Ribbed for her pleasure? 😜

Can we chop block Miller Moss?

Convince me that I'm wrong: Our defense has been bad

We are not getting a consistent pass rush from our D Line
Our LBs often are out of position
Our DB continue to miss tackles in the open field

Look at the data:
In the last 3 games RU is #105 in D1 in yards allowed per play (6.3)
In the last 3 games RU is #133 (out of 134 teams) in yards given up by rush (6.7)
In the last 3 games RU is #100 in D1 in allowing rushing first downs per game (10.2)
In the last 3 games RU is #72 in D1 in turnovers per game (1.3)
In the last 3 games RU is #109 in D1 in sacks per game (1.0)
In the last 3 games RU is #117 in D1 in sacks % (2.9%)

Granted we are 4-0 but that is largely due to our offense and mistakes by VT and Washington. It's disappointing given how many returning starters our D has.

Two Deep Analysis, Player Source Breakdown...

I wanted to dive into the source of the two deep (pre-season) to figure out which classes our players came from that Rutgers recruited from HS, which players were transfers and which players were walk ons. Here's what I found:

Here's the full breakdown by class/source:

20222 (9%)6 (14%)21
20231 (5%)5 (11%)20
202403 (7%)27

Some takeaways for me:
- The class of 2020 is carrying this team and this program. Schiano and company had a very high hit rate on the guys he brought in after he was hired. The majority of our best players all came from the class of 2020, particularly the guys who Schiano landed after taking the job (Kyle Monangai, Robert Longerbeam, Tyreem Powell, Aaron Lewis, Wesley Bailey, etc. He also landed Max Melton after he was hired who went onto the NFL already).
- The class of 2021 has produced a good amount of players in terms of both starters and 2 deep players, but I wouldn't say the class has produced many impact players. Shaquon Loyal, Gus Zilinskas and Kyonte Hamilton are the only 3 guys that (IMO) even come close to being impact guys. The other 6 players from the 2021 class in the two deep are well below average B1G starters/depth.
- The class of 2022 was a complete dud. These are the guys in their JR or RS SO seasons. Only 29% of that class is currently in the 2 deep, with many of those players being some of the most problematic on the team (Moses Walker, Dariel Djabome, Taj White, etc)
- 25% of our two deep are either transfers or walk ons.
- We will be losing (at least) 9/11 starters on defense and 4/11 starters on offense next year, with most of those players being our best players on the team. We will need to heavily subsidize this roster with portal players this off-season if we want to be competitive in 2025.

OT: 2024 New Jersey Light House Challenge

How about that 2024 New Jersey Light House Challenge?

Over the weekend I drove all over your awesome state and checked out 15 light houses and life-saving stations. I thought I was familiar with all of New Jersey, but I got to some really nice areas that I'd never seen before. I started up North at Sandy Hook, came down the coast all the way to Cape May, and then cruised westward over to the Delaware River for several over there.

You have a cool state going on here, Jersey...

Last night was just a preview of what we're capable of

From the team's performance, to the stadium athmosphere, tailgating, pregame, halftime, in game production, band, etc.
This, right here, is what we expected when we joined the B1G and what we should come to expect moving forward

Team - Greg's building. Recruiting is getting better. Coaching has improved. NIL needs to improve dramatically. Hobbs hired a firm to handle corporations, need to see fruits of that along with the average Joe pitching in on a monthly $$ basis

Athmosphere - Stadium will never get above 65-70k max. That's fine - when we're good, we bring it. And we have the potential to be good - real good - on a consistent basis. From the tailgating, noise in stadium, big game atmosphere w/the Jersey theme and NYC in our backyard, we know how to bring it when it's needed

Overall - This shouldn't be a one-time thing. This is what we should expect most games. Full house (close to it, all things considered). Students into the game. This should be the norm, not the exception

USC tickets arrived

Just got the tickets for Friday's game delivered electronically. Transferred through USC. You may have to create an account for USC like the one you have for Rutgers tickets. You can then accept the transfer and move them to your Apple wallet, if you're so inclined.

Rutgers section is 202 about halfway up in the corner near the open end of the field.

The rest of the way...

with close to the mid-point of the season, the remaining teams on our schedule are all pretty much looking doable. None are still without at least one loss and no better than 1-1 in conference.
Yes, I know you still have to look at their overall schedule strength, but ours isn't too shabby either! This week at Nebraska will be truly telling. Interestingly, those same words were said for our last two games.
Since the pros have no problem projecting into the future, I will too!
*I see us clearly looking better than UCLA and Minnesota. Maryland looks a bit shaky also. All 3 are already 0-2 in conference. Maybe brings us to either 6 or 7 wins.
*Wisconsin and MSU look tougher, so I will say we take out Wisky at home and lose to MSU. One more win.
*Obviously, the remaining 3 teams appear to be our toughest hurdles. 2 on the road makes them even tougher. I think we win one of these games. 1 more win.
Like quite a few pre-season projections, it looks like we end up with 8 to 9 wins. With some of the kind of luck we have seen recently, maybe even better.
