Rutgers Football History - The Drop kick

Before the placement hold for field goals, a player could drop the ball to the ground and kick it when it rebounded. The drop kick is still a legal field goal attempt in the pros. Some fans may remember Doug Flutie ended his NFL career with a successful drop kick against he Miami Dolphins on January 1, 2006 - the first in the NFL since 1941.

The longest known drop kick was 62 yards by Wisconsin’s Patrick O’Dea against Northwestern on November 15, 1898.

In Rutgers history, James Alverson holds three of the six longest drop kicks in history including his 45 yarder against NYU on October 29, 1910. The drop kick was outlawed in college football in 1949.

How Corey Hetherman Could be the Key for Rutgers Beating Maryland on Saturday

Dont discount the fact that harasymiak and corey are super close and that corey is likely sharing notes this week on how they prepped for and forced billy edwards to play his worst game of the year.

Coaches who are friends often share notes on common opponents after theyve already played each other (like RU/Minny did last week) or if they dont face each other through the year.

Could be the difference Saturday and an underrated aspect of the coaching fraternity that not alot of people account for

BTW Ace Hammin' It Up On Camera Against St. Peter's, Ha....

SIAP but did anybody catch that? On the BTN+ app/site replay it's @ around the 1 hr. 0 min. 48 second mark. He kept lookin' at the BTN camera, smiling, laughing, thumbing up while talkin' to Dylan Grant. Funny stuff. He seems like a fun kid, always joking, laughing. My son & I were crackin' up at the footage, ha. Def. has a little kid personality.

Here's a screenshot: 😅

UMD Lot PH Tommorow

Hey if anyone is in or near Lot PH tomorrow stop on by. Not sure where in the lot we will be, but there will be at least 12 of us. Half will be RU and half UMD. Look for the couple where the wife is in Terp gear (11 games a year she does wear RU gear) and me in RU colors. Somehow I lost my RU flag a few weeks ago, so we will be flying the Stars and Stripes and a UMD flag. A good portion of my checkbook went to UMD through my son graduating from there so I guess I have small reason to fly something UMD.

Raymond vs Benjamin

Obviously a limited sampling, but it seemed to me Benjamin is running better than Raymond. Of course, there’s the while blocking and even pass-catching aspects of the game, but what are the chances we’ll see more of Benjamin on Saturday? I’m assuming KM will continue to be out since if’s been so quiet.
