Bowl Money To Players

Fonseca's article in the SL is an interesting read. I agree that teams with losing records should not participate in bowls. However, to give the bowl money to the players instead of the schools; that's just another way to make "The Rich Richer". The athletes will all want to play for those teams most likely to play in the big paying bowls. Just think how that idea would affect Rutgers.

OT: Working virtual, where to live on the East Coast

Was having an interesting conversation with a friend of mine: the premise was that if someone had a job where they worked virtually and had to go in the office maybe every 3-4 months, assuming the job was in NYC or northern NJ, what state on the east coast would be the best to live in given taxes, cost and availability of housing, car insurance rates, etc. Assume you need to be within an acceptable driving distance, so figure Maine down to Virginia. States that would be covered would be Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, DC and Virginia.

Major KTR Million Dollar Match news for all (men's hoops) fans

Big news, we have just announced a "match within the match" specificially for men's hoops.

Author Dave Anderson has pledged a $25,000 match for men's hoops donors with all the money potentially going towards the Million Dollar Match campaign,

This is only for money pledged for men's hoops so if you are interested, please make sure you earmark that money. Your dollar will get matched by Dave and both those dollars will be matched again as part of the overall match.

Here's a story about the pledge with background on Dave. https://www.nj.com/rutgersbasketbal...who-will-match-mens-basketball-donations.html

Ross Scott Ranked the 15th Ranked Player in NCAA Lacrosse

Very deserved. Kid works his ass off like all the guys do. He had a great summer. I'm expecting even bigger things for him. For those keeping track, we have 1 defenseman, 1 attackman, and what will be 1 midfielder in Knobloch, who will most assuredly be in the top 10. If Sprock comes back to his previous level, he would be ranked as well. Having 4 top 50 players is a big deal.

QB Depth Chart

So is this it?
Everyone kept talking about a "portal QB" but it's been weeks with no movement.
Am I wrong in assuming we're not getting a QB of significance.

QB1: Gavin Wimsatt
QB2: Evan Simon
QB3: Ajani Sheppard (True freshman)

Is there anyone else on scholarship?
Doesn't look like any other HS QB commits for this year.

Hoops tonight

If looking for hoops the Xavier / Johnnies game is on FS1 at 9pm. Some really great matchups.

Posh Alexander's relentless defense vs current Big East player of year Souley Boum.

St John's big man Soriano vs Xavier bigs Freemantle and Nunge. (remember that guy from Iowa? Gotta be 25)

Funny I caught Johnnies game week or two ago and it's brutal when Curbelo and Alexander are on court at same time, neither can shoot.

Why this class is much better than people think

A lot of people are down on GS recruiting and this class. Some have gone so far as to describe it as "Ash Like" which is laughable. I am judging our classes right now by two things: 1) Offensive line an 2) QB. Why? This will be the third cycle in a row where we have recruited good potential on the Oline. As we know, other programs (think Wisconsin) have become powerhouses behind a line of road graders. It makes your QB and RB's look a lot better (what would Pecheco be with a great OL?). Now, people say this class is Ash Like. Here are his recruits in 17, 18 and 19: Bowles, Beatty, Clark, Sutton. O'Neil, Rosso, Cooper, Hansen and Okkerson. Only nine in three years and TWO worked out. The four guys we recruited just this year are monsters compared to that group. Add these four to the seven we recruited last year, and we have the makings of a real OL. We didn't get a big name QB this year, but I like Sheppard's pedigree. He's a winner.

Where are all the 4 stars?

The case can be made that there are 3 or 4 three stars in the class that could easily have been 4 stars
Who?
Petersen
Toure
Strong
Perhaps Oliviere
Why: Petersen was a four star as an offensive tackle last year, this year he played DL and went both ways, he will be a defensive Tackle at the next level but only was a DL for this past year
Toure played multiple position on both offense and defense had good numbers at all, but not outstanding # at any one, but was all over the field helping his team, could easily have been a 4 if he had concentrated on a single position

Strong, how do you be the #1 player in the NY state and not be a 4, again another guy who played multiple position on different sides of the ball.
Oliviere great offer list, did not allow a sack in 2 yrs has all the measurable, but committed early and played at a small school with a poor record in SJ
At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what your # is, it only matters how you perfor at the next level.
