#1 problem is personnel

We could have had Bill Belicheck coaching this team this year, and we may have squeezed out one more win.

Not sure if anyone remembers the last time we tried to install a spread offense with pro style players, but it was Schiano going to Kirk Ciarrocca, who was let go after 1 year. He just happens to be the O-Coordinator of the undefeated Western Michigan Broncos this year.

Bottom line is that most likely half of our starting defense was arrested and thrown off the team last year. And the remaining players were recruited to run entirely different systems.

I know everyone is all over Mehringer this year, but at the end of the day, we need players who are capable of doing very basic things like block. This staff deserves a chance to bring in it's first recruiting class before we come out with pitch forks and torches and run them out of town.

Flood left us with nothing. If we start replacing coaches every year, the instability will hurt recruiting, and our players will all basically be Freshman every year because they are going to be learning a new system, and new play verbiage from scratch every season.

I'm glad this season is over. Let's bring in this recruiting class. You're all going to be seeing a lot of young, new faces next season. I hope we won't expect them all to be Reggie White, Jerry Rice, and Barry Sanders from day one.

Well thought out post, but how many separate threads are we going to have saying the same thing for the last several weeks?

Will this be the thread du jour 10X per day for the next three weeks?

Sorry, not taking it out on you, but here are multiple threads with the same sentiment.

#1 problem may have been personnel, but coaching was not far behind. I understand we started 11 walk-ons on offense, defense, and special teams (what you say, those were actually 2 and 3 star kids, shh, we are not supposed to mention that fact, ruins the narrative), but I think competent coaching may have made a little bit of a difference. Jeez, you can't make this stuff up.
