If I donate, does that give me the right to boo the players? Thanks in advance.

Neither of your excuses are valid for a member of these boards.

And your excuse #2 is, quite possibly, the most stupendously idiotic analogy I have ever read.
Well this is counter productive thank you for as usual calling people out when you have no idea what they have given. Shows real maturity and in my opinion not anyone's business what others do or don't do. You have no idea of anyone's position so so stop accusing when you don't have a clue. The board sometimes makes no sense to me the way people bitch about others on the board is ridiculous.

Making a donation at this time when Rutgers is so close to a Big Ten financial windfall does not pass my price of admission vs. amount of enjoyment test.

A Big Ten Financial windfall is not assured as Rutgers is essentially on probation, until we become a full member, which should happen somewhere in the 2020 - 2021 timeframe. Is there really anything that could stop the Big Ten from replacing Rutgers with Texas? No. This is why there is so much effort on the $100 M fundraising initiative, so that we can better compete.

While its unfortunate that you cannot be supportive at this time, the right thing for you to say is, "While I can't give at this time, I hope that others who can give, give." While people shouldn't be calling you names, you shouldn't be belittling those who do give.

There are fans who are going to get this done, and there are fans who are going to make excuses. I hope you will consider being a member of the former, when you are able to. Every $ helps.

Those who donate are helping to build a legacy. I can confidently go to my grave knowing I did everything I was able to do, to make Rutgers a winner. And that gives me a measure of satisfaction.

When people state they are not giving because they see Rutgers Football as entertainment ala the Giants and Jets, that pretty much is stating a positon, and opens themselves up to criticism.

BS no one has to answer to anyone on this board when it comes to personal matters. If they do state their position it is still their choice. The problem here is people shouldn't assume anything and that's what started this. I don't have to toot any horns either and I believe your financial business is your personal business and does not need to be explained to anyone. I would never call out anyone for their financial choices and who's to say that all the people on the board didn't do what they could already?

No one on the board has to answer to anyone here. If they choose too that is their choice what anyone chooses is a personal decision what gives anyone the right to criticize that choice? I keep forgetting that all those that do must do everything right in their life. Again that's his choice you chose to give he chose not too I don't criticize people for their choice only God has that right.

Outside of the real diehard college football fan at primarily the FBS level it would be thought of as being absolutely crazy the amount of money that is required to be given in order to watch 18-21 year old kids play 5 or 6 games outdoors in whatever weather that Fall and Winter provides.
Al, you and others like you are the aberration and would be the one open for critcism by most average people. You are too close to it and have been doing it for so long that you don't realize that you are not the norm with regards to what the average man is willing to spend for their entertainment. If that's what you want to do then that's fine with me. You are obviously free to spend your money any way that you want. I would never tell you not to. But at the same time those that are trying to force others to give money that they don't want to give through insults and humiliation need to learn to show some respect and understanding for their fellow fans wishes.

Al,
I'm sorry but the right thing to say is the truth and that's what I've said all along. It's not a matter of "I can't give", it's that I don't want to give nor do I feel it is my responsibility to prop up a public State University's Athletics Dept.
Please show me even one example of me "belitting those who do give". I have never once belittled anyone for giving. I have consistently written that if they want to give then that's fine with me. I have not tried to inspire anyone else here to not give. My comments have always been about MY not donating.

You and the OC use the word "excuse" as if I have to put up a defense for some kind of misdeed. I would prefer to use a word like reason or explanation. I've already given my reason or explanation for why I don't want to give anything many times. To sum it up my feeling is that my responsibility to provide money to RU ends with the purchase of the ticket if I go to the game or whatever portion of my cable bill goes to media rights to watch the game on TV or Internet.

Those who donate are helping to build a legacy.

That is a wonderful sentiment. It is very commendable of you. It should give you great satisfaction if that's what you want. As for me, I just want to watch a football game.

ruforester. I did likewise and redspartan you are so correct-----its really mind boggling how some fans need to make excuses why not to give a few bucks. We have thousands of alumni ,more than most big schools yet with the attitude of some of our fans we will never match where their schools have gotten to facility and success wise

not an alum... i give through keeping my cable package(ie BTN).. cool thing is.. i don't have to wait in line to pee and i can eat and drink what i want all game long while checking in on other games as well! so if you hate me for it, then so be it
