2022-23 Transfer Watch

I’m sure Pike will get somebody, but the fact they are so close to the vest is causing me some anxiety.
Getting somebody shouldn't be the criteria for succcessful recruiting. Its filling needs caused by the departure of players and recognizing the obvious need for players that can create and make shots off the dribble.Winning recruiting battles is far more important now with the transfer portal having so many quality players available.

Holy crap that dude has a ridiculous skillset. I assume he'll end up at a top-15 team.
I know we have no shot, but he is a big dude like CJ Gettys who had his body transformed here and has a successful pro career internationally from one year here.

No top ranked portal 5's are coming to sit behind Cliff.

After next season when Cliff is likely to turn pro, a high quality 5 from the portal is a strong possibility
Agree with you on the first sentence. I think Reiber is the man. Hope he hits the weight room.

No excuse for not getting a proficient scorer from the portal this year, however, with plenty of minutes to be had, and a good core (Cliff, Mulcahy, and hopefully Caleb) returning.

That kid would start over Cliff. So in a hypothetical world where Rutgers lands the kid, the worry would be "Cliff is not staying to lose his starting spot to a transfer"

Great troll
You don't think a 6'11 center who shot 49% on over 100 threes this season, had an assist rate of 21%, shot 59% on twos, has the 83rd best block rate in the country, the 35th best offensive rating and a top 10 true shooting percentage in the country would start over Cliff? I'm not the troll here.

VMI plays literally no one, and he probably had a 3 to 4 inch height advantage over everyone they played, so no, I don’t think he would start over Cliff.

One of these players was a top recruit will be in the nba and the other one won’t. I’m glad you’re impressed by his socon stats though. Pretty adorable.

Do you think Cliff would shoot 49% on threes against SoCon talent? I don't think he could do that against Big North talent. I don't think he could do that in an empty gym. I promise you this VMI kid has a better shot at the league than Cliff.

VMI's non-conference strength of schedule last season on Kenpom: 187
Rutgers' NCSOS: 354

VMI's SOS: 147
Rutgers: 49

Didn’t realize three point percentage was the only thing important in comparing players

I don't think this shows what you think it does... this proves the point he played no one.

Looks like he had one game vs a P5 school. 1 game. Singular. Uno.

Against Wake he was 4-10 for 12 points 10 rebounds (all defensive) 1 block 1 assist 2 TO. 36 min. Solid game.

His monster games were against teams like Mercer, the Citadel, Gardner Webb

I gave you one stat that you can't refute with "but he played in the SOCON!" I gave you a bunch of other stats where he is better than Cliff above. Stephens is objectively a better player than Cliff. That doesn't mean Cliff is bad.

I am not saying he isn’t going to land someplace where he can start, he just wouldn‘t start over Cliff at Rutgers. We don’t need a starting center, we are solid there.

No, subjectivity you think he's better. It appears you signed up for the boards to just troll and be negative in every thread which is a shame.

Cliff is going to be an ALL B1G player next year. Book it.

Cliff's ceiling is much higher. Stephens can shoot and is skilled but he's slowwwww

I did not say Rutgers is going to go after him.

Let's put it this way: If every D1 team needed a center, and they were given the choice between Jake Stephens and Cliff Omoruyi for a year, a majority would pick Stephens.

He would be a great complimentary player to Cliff if he wants that (which he probably doesn’t) but there is no way he is a starter over Cliff. Gudenham is another clown to be ignored. Probably not an RU fan at all. Wonder why this garbage is ignored by the mods.

Cliff has held his own against Kofi Cockburn, Zack Edey, Hunter Dickinson, and Trayce Jackson Davis, all professional talents. And Stephens has held his own against . . . no one.

Don't know, don't care. I would guess at a high level program. Talented bigs are hard to find.
I will wager he ends up at a top 25 program. And I will wager he has better numbers next year than Cliff. I hope not. I don't see how he doesn't.

He will hit more 3s, almost assuredly. Other numbers? That's hard to say. If he joins a top 25 program, will he be given the chance to score 15 ppg? Cliff will likely be going for 14+.

Rebounds? Cliff was 8th in conference play and is improving. Several guys that were ahead of him won't be back: Harrar, Davis, Murray, possibly Liddell IMO. Kofi is unknown too. Would Stephens be top five in the conference next year?

Blocks? Cliff was 4th inches league and again, is improving. No way of knowing what Stephens will do in a full year against much stronger competition.

Stephens may have a better shot at being drafted with his outside shooting if he is quick enough for the NBA. If not... we know Cliff has rhe athleticism for the league. He needs to show growth in his offensive game to get there.

But there's no chance he plays for us and starts over Cliff next season.

Like I said, high level program.

Better 3 point numbers, yes.

I'll help you see

1. Big jump in competition = lower #'s
2. Role in offense - likely smaller
3. Minutes - likely decreased
4. Foul trouble - better 5's and players attacking the rim
5. Minus athleticism
6. Ceiling - already there

Meanwhile Cliff
1. Shown to be effective against elite B1G
2. Role in offense - likely bigger
3. Minutes - same or more
4. Foul trouble - very good at avoiding
5. Elite elite level athlete
6. Ceiling - there isn't one
7. Shown huge development year over year

Stephens is not getting drafted. He is a senior, if he had NBA talent he would have entered the draft.

Reiber did a fine job backing up Cliff this season. If you are correct, then who is the backup for Cliff? We can’t afford another Agee.

I hope you didn’t go to Rutgers cause this is embarrassing
